Book Description
The white man had burned their land, raped their women, and slaughtered their children. He had made them a nation of slaves, and those he could not enslave, he promised to destroy. The Apache had one hope: vengeance.
Out of the scattered remnants of the Apache tribes rose a man whose cunning, ferocity, and genuis for warfare would make him their leader in a last tragic struggle for survival. The Apache gave him their arms, their strength, and their absolute devotion. The white man gave him his name: Geronimo!

Watch for Me on the Mountain.......2007-02-11
I found this book more believable than all of the "White Man's" history books combined. Mr. Carter is an excellant storyteller, and I experienced irritation when I was required to put it down.
One of the Best.......2007-01-10
In addition to the same author's "The Education of Little Tree,"this is one of the best books about the Native American experience that I have read. As a teacher of Native American Traditions, with an extended family that includes relatives of Apache heritage, this book is very special to me. Forrest Carter touches places inside of the spiritual aspects that few writers can reach. His writing is not only historically accurate, it has a depth and poetry that is so moving. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a student of the Native American way.
Native American History/Fiction.......2006-07-12
Whatever the court of public opinion is on Forrest(Asa) Carter, one thing is for certain..this guy could really write. In this book he takes much of the history of Geromino and writes a fantastic story. The Chiricahua Apaches had a great hatred for the Mexicans and spent many years and blood warring with the Mexican soldiers. That hatred was caused by the Spanish taking the Apaches as slaves, stealing Apache women, forced religious conversions, placing a bounty on the their scalps and generally trying to wipe out their settlements. That hatred was so fierce that the Apaches, for a time, even allowed the US Cavalry free access acrossed their lands. Alot of this action took place among the Sierra Madres along the Mexican border. From this culture came Geronimo..a spiritual medicine man and battle tactician...the Apache Chiefs relied on his wisdom(how much is certainly debatable). When the US Cavalry got involved and the Apaches were forcibly moved to the San Carlos Reservation(Eastern Arizona), he and one of the Chiefs, Juh, fled with a band of followers back into old Mexico. Carter fills the pages with treachery, vengance and pathos making this a fantastic page-turner. The book is written, as expected, from Geronimos' and the Apaches' point of view and generally favors their actions...Carter was no great respecter of the US Cavalries position either Gen. Crooks' or Miles'.
Forrest Carter certainly had his prejudices and problems but these in no way should detract from what is otherwise a great read.
Excellent!.......2004-09-23
This book is extremely strong, touching, beautiful, realistically painful and raw in description of the historical facts. It is a book that i will never forget, and one of few books i most probably will read again. The historical character of Geronimo is fascinating. A warrior, a killer, AND a deeply spiritual man. A shaman with power to call on spirits of nature for help. I diagree totally with the reviewer below who claims the descriptions of anglosaxicans to be negative stereotype. I just read the book and was moved by the few incidents of friendships and respect between whites and natives. That a many anglosaxicans and mexicans had no human consideration for or respect for the indians is a historical fact. Frankly, in my view, there is still an issue today in the US, among a conservative minority, which speaks of incredibly stupidity, bloodthirst and greed, and of thinking - like religious sects - "us and them". This "philosophy" is the darkest sideeffect of the most rigid and dualistic christanity, and has nothing to do with pure religious feeling. It is sad that this model of "thought", that this tradition has been "in the seat" of the nation for a while now. It is the same forces that this books speaks of - forces of greed.
But speaking of the book again: Read it! - you will have your own experience of it. There is a lot to learn about history and authentic native spiritual understanding. It is filled with pain, beauty and painful beauty. My (lack of) demand of the english language cannot do it right!
This review is based on the norwegian translation.
Forrest Carter is an excellent storyteller.......2004-01-25
This book just grabs you from the moment you open it and you cannot put it down. I don't know when I've read a book that left such a lasting impression. You get a completely different perspective of "how the West was won". You feel as if you are there walking beside our Native Americans of the past and seeing through their eyes. Geronimo comes alive as the story unfolds. Awesome!

Doesnýt come close to her other books.......1999-01-15
Several times while reading "Watch Over Me," I had to check the cover to make sure who the author was. I don't know what Ms. Bishop was doing while she was writing this was, but it was pretty close to terrible. Becky DiFalco has been lured to Rampart, CO by a notorious serial bomber who has remained underground for years. She knows that he has brought her there for a purpose, but she knows that she is just as determined to catch him as he is to trap her. But when her sting begins to go terribly wrong and a blizzard threatens to let the man escape, Becky is forced to turn to Jack Slade, a former FBI agent and long-lost love, who is anything but happy to see her.
There were so many problems with the writing it's almost hard to remember them. First, it takes forever for the two main characters to meet-it's well after page 50, and their romance isn't exactly going to have anyone reaching for their kleenex. It's about as romantic as you would expect a book about two people climbing a mountain in a blizzard to be. (I don't know about you, but page after page of struggling in the snow, almost frozen to death, isn't the stuff to start me swooning. Worse, it's not even exciting.) Some much-needed tension is introduced at the very end (too late), but a final plot twist was too ludicrous for words. And just when you think the lackluster writing and rhythmless plotting couldn't get worse, the book simply stops. One minute, it's terribly downbeat; one paragraph later, there's a happy ending and the book's over. There's no resolution to Becky's relationships with the two men in her life: Jack and her father. Instead, Bishop spends time trying to justify the killer's actions. Yeah right. The huge margins and wide spaces make it clear this book is shorter than your average Intrigue. Overall, a lazy effort--and it shows.

Book Description
Zoe's a security specialist and a Costas through and through. Her eccentric, rather dubious family runs an Atlantic City spa that's just this side of legit. So Zoe isn't inclined to trust handsome, charming Ryan Baldwin when he shows up claiming to be related to Sam, the girl the Costas family is about to adopt. But Ryan is Sam's uncle and one of the famously rich and snooty Boston Baldwins.
Ryan's search for his sister Faith has led him to news of her death, and to a niece he's never met. But someone else has also tracked Sam down -- someone who never wanted the child to be found. Ryan is determined to protect Sam and find out what really happened to his sister. And Zoe "Whatever-It-Takes" Costas is just the woman to help him do it
Customer Reviews:
Carly Phillips is awesome!.......2007-03-29
I have read almost all of Carly's books, and this one was really good. Not her best, but a realy page turner. It had the right amount of romance, sex and excitement for me to not be able to put it down. I have recommended this book to all of my sisters.
Having a hard time finishing............2006-11-14
Usually Carly Phillips books are a quick read for me but I am having a very hard time finishing this book. I did not find the story interesting enough to want to see what happens next. I don't know if I will even finish it.
Phillips gives a fun, fast read.......2006-11-12
Summer Lovin' is the continuation of the Costa Family story. There are lots of family get-togethers, with family dynamic and misdynamic. The teen that the senior Costa's took under their wing and into their hearts turns out not to be without relatives. Actually she has wealthy, sneaky, stuck-up relatives. Naturally, the only 'nice' relative finds the teen and has to deal with the loving family she's found for herself. Specifically her older 'sister'. This book is fairly predictable, but Phillips has a way with characters that makes you keep on reading, just to see what happens next. If you are hooked on finding out what happens to characters throughout a series, Phillips is high up in the pecking order
Summer Lovin'.......2006-09-19
Zoe Costas lives with her very eccentric family in New Jersey. Zoe once worked for the Secret Service, but tired of all the rules and regulations of the government, she is starting her own business now. Samantha is Zoe's foster sister and lives with Zoe and her family. They are all gathered to celebrate Sam's first year with the Costas family when Ryan Baldwin arrives.
Ryan is a straight-laced lawyer from Boston. Ryan's sister Faith ran away from home, got into drugs and was eventually killed in a drug deal gone bad many years ago. Ryan didn't know he had a niece until recently and he has arrived at the Costas home to "save" Sam and bring her back to Boston. When Ryan and Zoe meet the sparks fly, until Zoe finds out that Ryan is not who he claims to be.
Because Ryan is Sam's blood relative, he is able to be a part of Sam's life even though the Costas' object. As they all try to find common ground, Sam's life is suddenly threatened. Working together, Zoe and Ryan protect her while attempting to solve the mystery of Faith's now suspicious disappearance. Through all the mayhem Zoe and Ryan are falling for each other, but they are very different people and although Zoe knows opposites attract, she isn't sure it's enough to make things work between her and Ryan.
Summer Lovin' is a terrific story! The little bit of mystery gives it some edge and the passion and desire between Ryan and Zoe makes it steamy and seductive. Ryan is basically the perfect man. He is compassionate, intelligent and gorgeous. Zoe is delightful. Her beauty both inside and out really shines through. Summer Lovin' is a feel good story that really sticks with you. With Summer Lovin', Carly Philips has proven yet again why she is one of my favorite authors!

Liked It Better Than I Thought.......2006-09-03
After reading other reviews, I expected to be disappointed with this book after really enjoying Under the Boardwalk. I'm not going to write a plot summary but it does continue the family sagas of the Costas family started in Under the Boarwalk. I just enjoyed that this is a quick read. No it's not Carly Phillips' best book, but it still is enjoyable. I already loved a lot of the characters and feel this is why a lot of other reviewers didn't like it because it builds on what was already established. I didn't feel a great connection with the male lead and his family and maybe wasn't supposed to but the rest of the characters do connect. I thought the attempt a mystery half way through the book kept it from becoming a really good book. It's almost like it was an after thought in Phillips' mind and she didn't fully develop it. However I do recommend this book. I think it's a good beach book or a book for someone looking for a quick light-hearted read.

Book Description
The LOVIN TOUCH stories were first told on Dick Summer's late night radio shows in New York and Boston. Then they were very successfully published as "Poetry" by Random House and Bantam Books. The success of the books inspired a line of jewelry, a series of greeting cards, and from what we've been told, quite a few highly romantic evenings by hundreds of thousands of listners and readers. A more accurate discription of the LOVIN TOUCH stories would be that they are the gentle ravings of a man who was suddendly shocked to find himself in love. Some of you may have heard some of these stories years ago. If so, you may be pleased to know that Dick is still shocked, still raving, and still in love with the same woman. LOVIN TOUCH is about that woman.

Lovin Touch.......2004-02-12
Dick Summer is a legendary broadcaster who elevated his craft to new creative levels during his on-air career. Today, with projects like "Lovin Touch" he is able to touch so many lives with his words of emotion and passion, so finely crafted and delivered. Dick has done so much for the spoken word and "Lovin Touch" represents some of his best work. Most of all, it's his smooth, silky voice that will draw in the listener. He's a frequent guest on my late night radio show and the lines always light up with people wanting to get in touch with the "poet of the airwaves."
Soft reminders of the importance of a lover.......2004-02-07
Dick's timeless velvet voice has once again spoken the words that take us back to our early days of new love. Both sensuous and childlike, he reminds us of when our love was new and full of joy and intrigue. He guides us through a small crowded world in an escape of love and intimacy.
Have we taken for granted how important our lovers are to us? Dick asks us to cozy up together for Just a Minute with wine and candle wax. Making love in the rain is far better than going to formal balls; sharing pizza and wine with our lover is more fun than the material things many of us desire.
I first heard Dick Summer on WBZ in my youth of the 60's, and was delighted to find him again on CD. Put a fire in the hearth, pour your lover a glass of wine and cozy up with the romantic words of Lovin Touch, and think about why you are lovers. It will be magic.
Could be mistaken as aural sex..........2004-01-28
But it really is high fidelity eroticism. Not the sexuality of a four color monthly read only for the articles but the sensuality of a mahogany table top with four generations of hand rubbed polish. Dick's blend of prose and music creates a level of anticipation that becomes it's own reward, a wistful recollection of romantic synergy that, if you're incredibly lucky, repeats itself for the rest of your life.
Lovin Touch.......2004-01-28
I have heard of Dick Summer before. I believe he was a New York DJ on 66 WNBC Radio.
I think this book is just wonderful! I have listened to it many times. Over and Over again. I gan't get enough of it. Or his voice. He knows how to tell a story, poem and just makes you feel so good.
I wish more people could get a little taste of his work. Then they will be hooked as am I.
Looking forward to more of Dick Summer's work.
Love the Lovin Touch.......2004-01-24
Dick Summer has caught the essence of love in these short verses. The metaphors used allows us to use all of the senses as we listen. Although written many years ago the touch of love does not change. Relax and be drawn into the emotion that being in love evokes.

A collection of soothingly intimate love poems........1998-10-08
In Lovin Touch Iii, poet Dick Summer gives us glimpses into one of those once-in-a-lifetime relationships with all its ups and downs and many of its joys. (An even better volume, however, is Summer's Lovin Touch V, with poems that tell about being "On the Prowl" and what would happen "If It Weren't For Dreams.") I remember listening to Summer, a former disc jockey for WNBC in New York, read his poems on the air and sharing Lovin Touch Sensitivity Tune-ups. I am glad to know the love so freely and joyously expressed in Summer's Lovin Touches lives on.

Customer Reviews:
Great anthology.......2007-06-11
"The Preacher's Daughter" by Marin Thomas. Jake Turner has come home to Silver Cliff, Colorado to attend the reunion of his high school class. However, he has a selfish motive; he wants to see the brain, Amanda Winslow, who tutored him so he could graduate, but he never went after her romantically in spite of his attraction because he felt inadequate. He plans not to waste any more time doubting himself.
"Baby on the Way," by Laura Marie Altom. Pregnant event planner India Foster comes to Silver Cliff to work at the hotel. However, she has doubts about coming home until reunion attendee Graydon Johnson kisses her like there is no tomorrow.
"A Reunion Romance," by Ann Roth. Holly Stevens is irate that her livelihood will soon end due to a renovation project led by her former high school boyfriend Brady Cornell. Their quarrel when they were teens ended their relationship, but now they are on opposite sides of the development; yet each still wants the other.
These three interrelated contemporary romantic novellas focus on a second chance at love. The couples are likable although somewhat underdeveloped as their relationship issues are not deeply explored. Still readers will want to attend the Silver Cliff High School summer of love reunion.
Harriet Klausner
Great antho!! .......2007-06-11
SUMMER LOVIN' begins in a small town where the "old" high school is being torn down and renovated into condos, as the town holds a reunion for all of its past graduates. Three couples find love and happiness in three novellas that fit together to make one great story.
The Preacher's Daughter by Marin Thomas Jake Turner and Amanda Winslow back together after he rode out of town and broke her heart when they graduated.
Bad boys and good girls always make this reader's heart race and these two were no exception. Jake was the notorious bad boy who fell hard for the preacher's daughter and seeing him come back and make good on the promises he could not make was worth the read. Amanda may have been a good girl back then, but she knows her heart and how to get the bad boy in the end. This was truly a delightful addition to this book.
A Baby on the Way brings India Foster to Silver Cliff as an event planner. When she is mistaken for a member of the alumni she is grateful to find she might fit in somewhere. Pregnant and alone India is shocked to find herself attracted to Graydon Johnson.
Laura Marie Alton gives her portion of this story a feeling of emotion that isn't the norm with a short story. She is a talented author who brings her characters to life in a few short pages - but leaves them in the mind for many pages later. The past traumas from India as well as Graydon's lives make them leery. With a pregnant heroine carrying another man's baby this is a tale worth wallowing in.
The last installment in this compilation is A REUNION ROMANCE from author Ann Roth. Brady Cornell and Holly Stevens broke up just before prom, and were still voted prom king and queen back in high school. They meet again at the reunion and sparks still fly between them, but he is putting her out of a job in purchasing the hotel where she has located her gift shop. Can they overcome the past and make a future?
Brady and Holly's story is filled with tension and drama. Their argument from the past may have been forgotten, but the drama of being prom king and queen after breaking up will leave reader's cringing. Coming together is not easier for them yet the sparks still fly off the pages as they are forced to confront their lust. The decisions these two make are heart wrenching, they make the reader want to scream in frustration as these two find their way to happiness.
This was an anthology that this reader really enjoyed. Set in a small town, the characters come alive and find their way into the heart. All three authors are talented this shows in the integration of the stories, there are not harsh breaks, and all the stories flow nicely into one another. I recommend grabbing your copy today before this one leaves shelves.
