An embiterred agent whose lover has been killed, or so he thinks, quits his job and goes walkabout, basically. When he finds out she is alive an perhaps a double agent, he wants back in the game.

Consular Operations wants to get rid of him, but the Russians deny to him that his wife is one of their agents.

When he finds his wife, she bolts, thinking that he is a double agent, because of information she has been fed.

On top of this, the US Secretary of State if completely starkers, and was once one of our protagonists advisers.

The partners manage to work it out, and get the ear of the present and some of his men, and realise that along with the nutso go, there is also a mole in the State department, and the two sides square off over the country.

2 out of 5 stars A toil to read.......2006-03-14

I really had to work hard to finish this book. It was a stuggle in the beginning to keep up with the characters and the plot, though by about 3/4 of the way through, it finally started to make sense. It wasn't my favorite Ludlum book.

5 out of 5 stars One of Ludlum's very best!.......2005-10-03

I'm a big Ludlum fan and have read several of his works. I have to say, Parsifal Mosaic is definitely one of his best works. The characters are well developed, plot is deep, and descriptions of places and events are vivid and well put together. Ludlum has built the characters very well, and this book is really a thriller from the protagonist's (Michael Havelock) perspective, as opposed to some of this other works where the focus is almost entirely the plot and sequence of events. Even with a plot that gets complex towards the second half of the book, the suspense is very engaging, and it's hard to put the book down. I would highly recommend this book!

5 out of 5 stars WOW!!!.......2005-06-10

what a book! absolutely unputdownable. ludlum is at the top of his game here, and, boy, you wanna get your hands on this baby as soon as possible! a crackling good yarn.

5 out of 5 stars Ludlum doing what he did best.......2005-05-26

After reading the book of the cover I had no idea why the book was 692 pages long. Seemed like the story should be a simple 400 page book. But then it hit me that this is a Robert Ludlum book.

The brief description of the book makes it sound very intersting, and interesting it is. It also happens to be dramatic, suspenseful, and breathtaking. Every aspect of this story is done with expertise. The action scenes are entertaining, the dialogue is fluid, and the plot gets deeper as the pages turn, but never becomes confusing or ridiclous. Best of all, the pieces of the puzzle come together intensly and believably.

The story is not hard to get into. The characters are not hard to become familar with. The book is hard to put down.

                    5 out of 5 stars Lori Wilde's best.......2007-09-27

This is my favorite of Lori Wilde's books. It demonstrates that each of us has greater depths than we realize. And it's funny, sexy, and clever. I loved the entire book.

                    2 out of 5 stars A little unrealistic.......2006-12-03

I picked this up on a whim, mostly because of the cute front cover. However, I ended up disappointed because the character's behavior is so completely unbeleivable. I'm all for fun and whimsy, but there has to be a backbone of reality. None of these characters acted like people do in real life. After a couple of chapters, their antics became annoying to read. Also, I found the dialogue rather cheesy.

                    4 out of 5 stars A fun read.......2006-11-04

The characters are engaging and the plot rarely slows. Wilde weaves comic book heroines and government agents and secrets together and makes it work. Of course her heroine and hero are the best part of the book. For Texans, the locale is as much a part of the story as the characters.

5 out of 5 stars My first Lori Wilde, but not my last!.......2006-08-06

Picked this up on a whim at the library and wow, I loved it! From the first page, one action-packed sequence after another -- I could hardly catch my breath. Well written, exciting and great banter between characters make this a thrill of a ride.

More of an adventure than a romance novel, Wilde nonetheless draws us into the emotions of all the characters and makes us care. Knowing what we know about the government these days, the underlying mystery and its resolution was totally believable. No loose ends, no frustration at unanswered questions.

Wilde writes with strengh and skill. A unique and thoroughly enjoyable read -- if you're in the mood for some fun, try this one. I could not put it down!

4 out of 5 stars Funny and sensual conspiracy theory.......2006-06-20

Marlie Montague is a comic book writer and conspiracy theory enthusiast with a distrust of the government and the military. When she was a child, her navy hero father was accused of being a traitor, but was killed and tossed overboard.

Joel Hunter is a former SEAL now working for the NCIS. His latest assignment is to watch over Marlie, as she is suspected of subversive activities. But as far as Joel can tell, she is a friendless shut in who's only excitement is a weekly bowling game. When she shows up on his doorstep proclaiming that the UPS man tried to kill her, he helps investigate (knowing he has her under video surveillance). When no sign of an intruder is present, and the cops assume she is a fruitcake, Joel checks the video footage, only to discover that it's been erased.

When her mother disappears, Joel offers to help her look. And soon he discovers that at times of stress, she adopts the aggressive attitude of her kick-butt comic book heroine Angelina. They prove to be irresistible to each other, and engage in a rollicking affair while solving the big mystery. What will happen when Marlie discovers Joel's duplicity?

Chock full of action, plot twists, snappy dialogue, and double crosses, Joel and Marlie take plenty of time to explore their sensual sides. The most humorous and memorable of Wilde's stories to date.

In Elizabeth Thornton's You Only Love Twice, readers will find not only a satisfying historical romance, but also an intriguing mystery. Jessica Hayward has spent three years in a London convent without her memory; now she remembers her name, her birthplace, and very little else. When she returns to Hawkshill Manor, she is deeply drawn to Lucas Wilde, but a murder victim who she can't quite remember haunts her.

                    Book Description

Author of the national bestseller The Bride's Bodyguard, Elizabeth Thornton triumphs once again with her thrilling blend of sensuous historical romance and heart-stopping suspense....

For three years she's been a mystery even to herself...a young woman who awoke in a London convent bereft of her memory. But now Jessica Hayward knows her name, her birthplace, and one other thing: by some terrifying twist of fate, she has the power to read another's thoughts--a man who has killed and will kill again.

Convinced that she must unmask him before it's too late, Jessica goes home to Hawkshill Manor...and discovers that no one is happy about her return, especially the dangerously handsome earl, Lucas Wilde.

What kind of girl was she to have earned such scorn? What took place between Lucas and her before she disappeared? And whose murder haunts her?

The deeper Jessica digs, the more scandalous details are revealed. Yet even as the clues point to Lucas as the killer, Jess can't keep herself away from his embrace. And now all she can do is pray that the man she's falling in love with isn't the man whose deadly voice she hears in her dreams....

5 out of 5 stars Suspense and something different.......2006-07-29

I have been reading regency romances for the past 4 years and lately I'd begun to wonder if they weren't all the same story told a different way. I mean, they fall in love, something stops them from being happy, they overcome all and end happily ever after. I sound bored and truth is, I was. But I found this book again (I read it years ago but kept it on my shelf) and boy am I glad I did. This book was just what I needed. Now, don't get me wrong. It still follows the same basic romance plot, but it's so much more.
It was suspenseful because you never have more information than the heroine does. Since Jess lost her memory and can't remember anyone or anything, it means we are seeing everything as she sees it. The characters and their feelings, the murder mystery, the townspeople; everything is unknown. Her feelings of confusion are our feelings of confusion. So many times you see the ending coming, and even though the murderer wasn't necessarily a shocker, this ending was better than most. I agree that the characters seemed confused about their feelings but the plot and the writing makes that seem normal. Thank you Ms. Thornton for writing a historical romance with suspense and that something different.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderfully COMPLEX Mystery and Love Story.......2002-11-18

If you like a complex plot then do find a copy of this book. I must say that this is one of those books that you should not start at night as you will find it enormously difficult to put down. There were so many mind-boggling twists and turns. Our heroine Jessica Hayward is first introduced as a postulant, Sister Martha, in a convent. She has been in this convent for three years with no memory of what has transpired in her life before that time, but she has vivid images and a voice she hears in her head. Given the time period, which is not really defined but some years after the battle of Waterloo - approximately 1820's - it would have been hard to imagine someone with ESP and terrifying to a sane person to admit to it. Yet, the images did not terrify her as much as the 'Voice' of a cold-blooded killer who was planning another murder.

A patient in the clinic that the convent runs recognizes Jessica. Along with a couple of nuns, she travels to Hawkshill Manor where she finds a small legacy that has been left to her by the death of her father. The more she questions the more mystery her former life becomes as it appears that no one wants to give her a straight answer. More importantly, the man she was told she was madly in love with, seems to have a distinct disgust and hatred of her. Evidently, the 'Perfect Nun' she had become was not a very nice person in her former life. How had this happened? This is just one of the many mysteries that Jessica had to solve. Even without the memory of her love for Lucas Wilde, now an Earl, her body seemed to recognize him, given the responses whenever he was near.

Wow, is all I can say! This was a superb story that will again keep you on the edge of your seat and up all night. The love interest is probably secondary to the mystery to be solved but I found it to be a most satisfying read all together. Jessica's character is so very well developed and complex you can really feel for her frustration and have an acute awareness that she is a really 'good' person. Lucas' character is complex as well, but he is unraveled more so towards the end of the book. There is a profusion of secondary characters, who are dealt with quite well, along with a few small doses of humor thrown in. There are not a lot of love scenes here, as the mystery takes more of a precedence, but what passages there are, do get quite sensual without being minutely detailed. All in all this is a wonderfully robust and terrific story that I can highly recommend.

                    4 out of 5 stars Compelling..........2001-10-02

                    READ EDITORIAL REVIEWS...

I am not particularly fond of heavy suspense, action and/or mystery in my romance books. I prefer internal conflicts with lots of heart soaring twists. I prefer goose bumps alerts and heart squeezer twist. However, despite that personal preferences, from time to time, I do give historical-romance-mystery or those kinds of book a try because I've read quite a few in the past that have stirred up my emotions and I have actually enjoyed the overall story. I am happy to say that LOVE ONLY TWICE is one of those few novels.

This is my first novel of Elizabeth Thornton and I am much interested to read more of her works. I like the complexity of the plot. There were many twist... few internal and lots of external ones which were all intriguing. I specially liked the way Ms. Thornton describe and portrayed her characters. Each and every one of them, even those extra-passing-characters were properly executed. Jessica is my favorite overall. Her character was represented beautifully, I think. I read books with heroine who lost their memories but this is the only book that have actually made me ache and feel for the heroine. I understood her confusions. I admire her strength, her courage and her determination. Must be awful not knowing who you are, where you come from and what's enstore for your future. Lucas is likable but not my favorite in this book. He is straight-forward, sexy, loving, honorable and patient. Their love story was alright. Some excitement, some passion and desires, few heart soaring moments and a little laugh here and there... But I couldn't say their's is FULL of love. I think the action-mystery overshadowed a tiny bit of their relationship development or perhaps it's just me and my preferences? The minimal inconsistencies in this book such as their language didn't bother me at all. Yes, I noticed it but it's not overly much as to distract me.

Once again, I didn't think it's fair for me to rate this book less than 4 stars mainly because of my self preferences... Afterall, Love Only Twice is an exciting and an enjoyable read. It really all goes down to a matter of taste and preferences. If you like heavy action-mystery-suspense in your romance reading, then this book if definitely the one for u. For those who are picky and prefer more lovey-dovey scenes... hmmm, I do urge you to try this book anyway, who knows you might like it just as I have or perhaps even more...

                    5 out of 5 stars Intriguing story.......2001-04-14

Elizabeth Thornthon never failed to give me the suspense in her books. In this story, the heroine, Jessica Hayward lost her memories and later she worked in a convent under the care of nuns. Enters Lucas Wilde, a man who was from her past, and keep the secret of her life. He was mad as hell to know Jessica was in town. Jessica was dumbfounded naturally, since she couldn't recall her past. She was actually a hoyden, that was not loved by her father and seduced Lucas when she was a school girl. Jessica also have another dark secret that only she was aware of, she can read the mind of a killer. It was maddening for Jessica to hear what her killer's was thinking and the killer knew someone can read his mind when Jessica whispered back to the voice in her head. Jessica eventually marry Lucas as an act that she considered as convinient, as Lucas could protect her. But, she was aware that even her husband could be the killer whose voice keep echoing in her mind.

This story was great and suspenseful. Readers will read from cover to cover as it will be intriguing to know Jessica's secret and her dark past. I can feel the fear that Jessica was feeling clearly since the author described it vivdly. It is a keep for readers who love a suspense novel.

3 out of 5 stars I agree with the reader from Chevy Chase.......2000-09-13

This book was forced and filled with too much inconsistency. None of the characters acted or spoke in expected ways, and while a little surprise can be nice, not when it goes on for page after page. I couldn't get a handle on Jessica and Lucas and was never even sure if I liked them. Their great love affair felt unnatural and forced and I wasn't even sure until about 2/3's of the way through the book if Lucas even liked Jessica, much less loved her. And while it was evident that Jessica had at one time loved Lucas, since she couldn't remember it, those feelings couldn't be shared with the reader. Jessica seemed to trust Lucas, yet she believed he was a murderer. That, in itself, is cause for much confusion.

Certainly the imaginary James Bond was related to the very real man who was Ian Fleming. And James Bond's most fantastic exploits were closely connected with the true events of the Ian Fleming's incredible career. But Ian Fleming was not James Bond. He was much, much more. --The Detroit News

5 out of 5 stars Best Self-Improvement Program is now Even Better.......2007-08-22

I'd been fortunate enough to find the book and original cassette version of this program on amazon years ago. I listened to the tape so many times while driving that I wore it out. This 8 CD set has a lot more information than the original. You can tell Mr. Kyriazi has continued to learn and practice his techniques.

From the introduction by David Hedison (Felix Leiter in two of the James Bond movies) through the "Clearing the Subconscious Mind" session on the last CD, this set places a powerful set of tools in your hands. Tools you can use to improve your lifestyle.

Since I first listened to Mr. Kyriazi's program, I've upgraded my life signifcantly. I found my "Bond girl," got my first novel published, and drive a new Mustang GT. I don't know if any of these things would have happened if I hadn't discovered (and implemented) these well-thought out and explained techniques. Thanks, Paul!

I can't recommend this strongly enough to anyone who is interested in improving his lifestyle.

5 out of 5 stars Not everyone can be a Double 0, but YOU can change that !.......2007-08-12

so i was already in the mode of a Double 0....buying this CD was all i needed to simply push myself forward into being a Double 0 ( no kills please )...in a way the CD purchase was like M promoting me into double 0 status..listening to it was like i am shifting gears upwards...

Every since i bought the CD set and listened to it, i have already noticed changes in myself. I hit the gym more than usual having lost 10 pounds so far, i have a new 007 watch, no not Omega but a Graham by British masters ( i think each agent should choose their own kind of watch ), i have a gold coin just for that good feeling....etc.

This review might seem juvenile to some readers but you must understand that success is not meant for everyone. You must be a person wanting to want it. badly enough i might add. This CD allowed me to see that and push myself forward into what i knew i always wanted.

I think we all need a little imagination in our lives, makes our days a little more adventurous...

Next year i will vacation at Paradise Island at the Ocean Club ( i already hv their number )...go do some diving, i am tryig to work harder and smarter at work to increase my salary base so i can "maybe" afford an aston martin...its a far fetch goal but not impossible, if anything its so worth the try .. plus other things.

So i hope you will too do something that will improve your life. Remember a lot of people will say you are silly or think you are silly but what YOU think of yourself is more important. i used to always listen to my friends and familly i might add....got me nowhere...so i woke up one day and said i am going to listen to ME....in a year i become the owner of some real estate ( on two continents ), swam with stingrays, started organizing my life together, turned everything into missions, got what i needed from Q branch and already found myself improving etc...

so please dont give up on yourself. You are the best thing that ever happened. And if you have the money to spare, then buy this CD set...its a great motivational tool and maybe the kickstart you need to get up from that couch and do something.

Welcome to double 0. See you in the field. Next year you will find me at the Ocean Club playing cards or drinking a martini, or on the beach..trust me you wont miss that double 0 look...if you do see me, say hello....i would love to meet another double 0.

                          best...F

5 out of 5 stars I Never "Say Never" heard a self-help book like this .......2007-07-12

I had the book, so I knew about the seriousness of the subject, by a guy that's obviously applied what he is preaching. However, this eight hour marathon of one good idea after another, really took me by surprise. The author's authoritative voice, with support of other actors, made going from one disc to the other a real trip, that seemed to cover every possible way to get ahead imaginable. From now on, I probably won't be satisfied with other self-help audio-books, if they only have one speaker, no effects, or music. This audio-book got me spoiled.

I was already using the ideas from the book, but seems like there's double the info, in the 8 CDs. Anyway, double the energy for sure. I like the way each disc is marked for each topic, and unlike the author figured, I didn't skip to the disc on Bond girls first. I listened from the beginning. I'm not a gambler, but his 'always win in the casino' made sense to me, anyway, fun to hear it. And I'll certainly use valet parking if I go to Vegas, after hearing the funny example of parking yourself with your Bond girl.

David Hedison's introduction surrounded by Bond music really kicks it off. I'm thinking he could do his own motivational book, especially for wannabe actors. But for wannabe Bond's, I guess, this would be the course needed. I give it two thumbs up.

5 out of 5 stars Live it up!.......2007-06-30

The author provides specific, actionable tips for planning and executing your "missions". Good, down-to-earth advice.

5 out of 5 stars Plan adventures, dress well, be 007.......2003-03-09

I already consider myself successful having achieved many of my personal goals. And although I've been studying and achieving success for years, I had gotten stale and complacent. In other words I began to go into a dirty t-shirt wearing, couch potato mode. Then I bought this tape and, as absurd as it sounds, galvanized my entire life back into action and positive progress.

The important aspect of the tape (and book) is the re-programing of your mind and asserting control over your negative emotions. This sounds wishy-washy, but it's the real gem. Once you begin to ask yourself "what would James Bond do in this situation" it all falls into place. You will not believe the results and turn your life will take.

You begin to immerse yourself in a lifestyle that promotes action and excitement. You plan adventures, you dress well, you act (and then become) confident. You exude prosperity. Much of the by-product of all of this is attracting women.

This tape scratches the surface but it is one of the best. I then recommend you get the book. I have listened to and read a lot of personal improvement products over the years. This one has lots of realistic techniques: not just theoretical advice. Highly recommended.
