The Books continue to be amazing.......2004-07-20
From the first time I picked up the first book in the series, I can not wait for the next one to come out. This is truly a wonderfully written series and I enjoy every minute I am reading them.
A New Leaf.......2004-07-14
Book arrived in excellent condition. Shipped 2 days after I placed order and received in 3 days. Excellent service.
This book is slow and very boring.......2004-05-27
I am sorry to have to say these things but I feel it necessary to be honest. I am a avid reader and I picked this book up to try this author. This book was very slow and the characters are very shallow.I felt no attachment or pull to any of them. I kept waiting for something to happen but to my dissapointment it never came. You as a reader can tell from the first few chapters exactly what will take place in this book. There was nothing in this book of interest to me as a reader and I will think twice next time before reading anything from this author.

Good Story.......2007-04-12
The story line in all of the Cape Light Series are sweet, but predictable. Which is okay; sometimes, sweet is nice.
The basic problem with these books is the editing. There are numerous typos. There is also an instance of the wrong name being inserted. It is very unprofessional as well as distracting. Contacting the editor did not even elicit a response.

Reap the Wind.......2007-07-27
Well, this turned out to my favorite of all of I.J's books. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book nearly as much as I did. I fell in love w/ the characters. Caitlyn & Alex's relationship was well written, and drew me deeper into the book. Kemal is awesome & what a cool twist at the end! I still can't figure out how Melis is related to Kemal, he says she is his niece, but is that indeed true? I wanted to cry for Melis, and Kemal's character was just brilliant! I will miss Alex & Caitlin & crew! Kemal could fill up a book on his own. Maybe one day he will, with references back to Reap the Wind. LOVED IT!!!!
happy.......2007-02-26
The shipment was very fast. I was very glad to find this book I have been lokking for it after I read Wind Dancer. It is a wonderful book.
Filled With Mystery and Erotic Sex.......2005-03-19
I have certain criteria which needs to be met in order for me to give a book an excellent rating. One of those mandatory items is good editing. The author could write a fantastic story, filled with intrigue and characters that burst out of the pages at you, but if the editing is substandard, then I can't get past it. Thus causing my rating of the book to go down a notch. This was the case with Reap the Wind - those glaring typos and a couple of minor storyline errors jumped out and spoiled the scene in my eyes. Of course, this book is a reprint of an earlier work by Iris Johansen and I'm thrilled that her editor is either now more efficient, or she has a new one!
Reap the Wind focuses on Caitlin Vasaro, a woman who has always had a love for the Wind Dancer. The Wind Dancer, an antique statue shaped like a Pegasus, is said to possess mystical powers. The statue has been passed down in the Andreas family for many generations and is often fodder for rumor and speculation, as well as plots for stealing it. The myths surrounding the statue include stories of untold power for anyone in possession of it.
Caitlin, as a distant cousin to the owner of the Wind Dancer, had studied the statue's history while in college, and pours over a family journal, which contains portions focusing on the statue. She currently has returned to oversee and run the family flower farm in Italy and has produced a perfume that will "rock the world". She always seems to be one step ahead of the bank mortgage and worries about them repossessing Vasaro (the name of the farm). Vasaro is depicted as Utopia - fields of flowers, fruit trees, vineyard, mansion, and various outhouses. Yes, sounds like Utopia to me!
Caitlin's life is high stress constantly wondering if the elements will destroy the flower crop, and if so, how she'll make the next mortgage payment or payroll. Then an opportunity that's too good to be true walks into her life. That opportunity comes in the form of Alex Karazov, a wealthy businessman, ex-CIA/KGB man, who makes her a business proposition she can't refuse. He's willing to put up his money to market her perfume, thus paying off the mortgage on Vasaro. She enters the deal, knowing there is more to it than she is being told.
Most people can see where this story is going. Yes, Caitlin and Alex begin a mad, passionate love affair (and some of those scenes in the book are very steamy and not for those that blush at the mere mention of sex). But the surprise is the mystery that comes along with the romance. It seems others of a more evil nature are planning to steal the Wind Dancer while on loan for the perfume advertising campaign.
(NOTE: This section contains key information about the plot - skip if you are planning to read the book)The story takes you on a wild run through Europe in a chase to get the Wind Dancer back once it's stolen. At times the action is a bit far-fetched, but it will definitely have your heart pumping. The identity of a key villain, The Gypsy, was predictable, but the ending had a few twists and turns to keep it interesting.
There were also scenes that are definitely overkill, such as guys repealing out of helicopters to torch Vasaro with flame-throwers. Another hard one to fathom is the scene where the captain of a whaler shoots his harpoon at the people on the ship trying to save the whale. But hey, there are only a few of those type scenes and it doesn't take away from the overall good story.
This book is definitely one to read, as long as you don't focus on the typos and can get past the site seeing/shopping adventures. Never mind, don't ask about those! And if you blush at romance scenes, you'll want to skip over the few very erotic, xxx, love scenes that will leave you wondering how Iris Johansen comes up with this stuff!
Brilliant.......2004-05-11
Again, I can't stop reading. This was a great book!
My favorite IJ book!.......2004-04-03
The third in the four books about the Wind Dancer, Final Target is the last in the Wind Dancer series.
I loved this book, the characters were great, the main ones Alex and Caitlin were fabulous together. I could not stand it if they were not on every page and when they were it was hot , hot and more hot. I could not put this book down! I loved the plot , the twists and the turns. Added to the list of my all time favs! Alex and Caitlin left me wishing for more and she did not give much about them in the Final Target, I am still thirsty! Fatal Tide another IJ book is the story of Melis the orphan that was rescued by Kemal and Caitlin in Reap the Wind. Kemal and Marisa(Chelsea Andreas daughter, Reap the Wind) also have a mention in Fatal Tide. I feel like I am a part of this journey with all of these characters. Keep them coiming IJ!

Book Description
In the first book of the Stratification series, set in an earlier time in Czerneda's Trade Pact Universe, the Clan has not yet learned how to manipulate the M'hir to travel between worlds. Instead, they are a people divided into small tribes, scattered over a fraction of their world, and prevented from advancing by two other powerful races who control both technology and terrain.
Aliens begin exploring the Clan's home planet, upsetting the delicate balance between the three intelligent races. It is a time, too, when one young woman is on the verge of mastering the forbidden power of the M'hir-a power that could prove to be the salvation or ruin of her entire species...
Customer Reviews:
When is the next installment?.......2007-10-10
Julie Czerneda proves again she has a fine talent for storytelling and a creative imagination. She has finally decided to gift us with the back story of how the Clan came to be found among the human worlds of the trade pact universe. In this first volume she Hints how it comes about that the most gifted might need or want to leave the planet of their origin. Or perhaps not! She leaves room for uncertainty in both origin and fate. This is how it should be in the first book of a series. As always the human (or almost human) chararacterizations in the story add strong interest to the plot.
So when's the next one?.......2007-09-21
A Thousand Words for Stranger, the first of the Trade Pact trilogy, is one of my favorite Czerneda books--so it seems only fitting that Reap the Wild Wind (first of the Trade Pact prequel trilogy, Stratification) now crowds Stranger for that very spot.
Like Stranger, RTWW focuses on individuals while unveiling a much larger story, making us care deeply about Aryl Sarc and her family--and newly acquired friends--even while catching us up in a tale that spans worlds Aryl can't yet imagine. Czerneda's deep respect for life of all forms here on Earth and her knowledge of same come through clearly, giving us all a little peek at what that vision might be like.
A Gift of Sci-Fi Wonder.......2007-09-06

Cersi is a world divided by three sentient species. The Om'ray, a people almost indistinguishable from humans, are the most restricted. They must keep to their clans or face death, the only exception being Om'ray males who are called on Passage to distant females.
Among the Om'ray, the Yena is a forest clan whose people live far above the ground. Aryl Sarc is a young woman, not yet mature, but not quite a child. She is young, enthusiastic, and tends to act before thinking, especially where her considerable Talents are concerned. When tragedy strikes in the form of an incomprehensible device that flies with no discernable wings or motor, Aryl starts down a path that will change her life in unimaginable ways.
Cersi's other two species, the Tikitik and Oud, suddenly play larger roles in Aryl's life than she has ever known, and when she meets strangers who claim to be from another world, all her beliefs and knowledge will come into question. As an Om'ray, questioning the way things are can be deadly.
REAP THE WILD WIND is a prequel to Czerneda's "Trade Pact Universe." While I have not had the pleasure of reading the trilogy, I had no trouble following the action in this compelling science fiction adventure. In fact, RTWW was thoroughly enjoyable. Drama, action, all ranges of emotion, and the story itself will touch sci-fi fans, as well as many fantasy lovers.
Whether it's Ms. Czerneda's considerable background in biology, her sheer knack for storytelling, or something more ethereal, she has the ability to deliver to readers a gift of reading wonder worthy of a good night with a bowl of your favorite snack and drink. Enjoy!
Fabulous storytelling.......2007-09-04
On planet Cersi, the races of The Om'ray, Oud and Tikitik each possesses clearly marked territory; rarely except during the coming of age Passage does a member of one species trespass into the lands owned by the other two as that are key segments of the three principles that make up the planetary governance. The other criticality is that change is bad so nothing must transform on Cersi. Within the territory of the most privative of the three species, the Om'ray, are small tribal villages in which villagers except during the Passage never visit their neighboring villages as it has always been this way and will always be this way.
However aliens from the Trade Pact worlds of outer space arrive on Cersi. By their coming, they devastate the interrelationships between the species because regardless change has arrived from space. At the same time of the alien landing, an Om'ray female Arylis Sarc begins her rite of Passage trek by examining the outlawed M'hir power as she believes she can harness its usage, which will save her species from extinction as she fears the other two species and now this first contact outer space race will ultimately destroy them unless they embrace radical change.
Fans of the Trade Pact Universe trilogy will cherish the fabulous first act of the Stratification series, which is a prequel of the Clans when they still were planet bound. Although the story line provides a deep look into the three cultures especially the Om'ray, the action is non-stop as Julie E. Czerneda uses events for the audience to learn how the species lived before the first encounter and the beginning of the changes caused by the alien landing, which means Star Trek's Prime Directive is an impossible sham. Their coming encourages Arylis Sarc to further explore the taboo M'hir. Thus REAP THE WILD WIND is a coming of age science fiction tale at a time when people must choose between maintaining the status quo of centuries of customs and tradition vs. reaping the benefits of progress.

6th dread empire book, very good for sequel.......2006-08-04
this story picks up a few years after the end of the first dread empire trilogy. It deals with the fate of Mocker's son Ethrian and in great detail with the dread empire and efforts of mist to regain her throne in that place. As usual, excellent brutally realistic characterization of primary and secondary characters as is cook's trademark.
Unfortunately this second trilogy had the third book's manuscript stolen from cook's house and was never published, thus ths story continued in An Ill Fate Marshalling has never had a published conclusion.
Back to the Dread Empire.......1997-10-20
This self-contained volume picks up four years after the original Dread Empire series ended. The characters are still recovering from the devestating war that finished All Darkness Met. This time, Cook tells his story from the point of view of both of the former warring sides. Most of the book deals with a sub-plot outside of the main series story-line. RTEW is a must read for fans of the original trilogy, and also worth reading for those unfamiliar with it, since it has many references to those first books. It was the first I read, and it left me determined to find the others!

An Excellent Follow-Up to Raging Winds of Heaven.......2000-11-25
This is book number 2 out of 8 in an amazing series by author, June Lund Shiplett. This saga (starting with book 1) follows one woman (Loedicia Aldrich Locke Chapman) and her descendants.
This particular book is about Loedicia, her husband Quinn and the other man she loves, Roth. It also follows Lodeicia's daughter, Rebel, her love for Beau (a French-Indian) and her husband-to-be, Brandon (an English Duke).
Shiplett makes these characters so real -- they have flaws, bad hair days, gain weight and make mistakes. Not your average blonde haired, blue eyed wimpy heroine who gets saves by the big handsome, over-bulked stupid guy. These women think for themselves and can take care of themselves, thank you very much.
I'm really not a big reader of romances in general, but I love this series of books. I think I pull them out about once a year and reread them all the way through. It's truly amazing how Shiplett manages to weave history, family, action and romance thru this series.
This is a can't miss series and you will only wish that Ms. Shiplett had written more.

Important series!.......2003-04-10
The sheer scope and importance of Irene Bennett Brown's series, the Women of Paragon Springs culminates with her fourth book, Reap the South Wind. The aviation industry was born in Kansas! The first helicopter is displayed in a museum in Goodland, Kansas. Brown brings history to life with these superb books and one's awareness of the centrality of Kansas to American history grows exponentially with each volume. One of the marks of excellence in any novelist is the ability to see stories and the importance of struggles where others cannot. Brown vividly demonstrates that her inner vision is second to none. The panorama of the Great Plains is realized with Reap the South Wind. The story turns to Lucy Ann Walsh, and the rough and tumble period of Kansas Populist politics. Mud-slinging was developed to a fine art and there is plenty to expose in Lucy Ann and her brother Lad's past. Opponents do not hesitate to sabotage Lad's run for governor. Having lost her husband in the famous Run to the Cherokee Strip, Lucy Ann had planned to spend the rest of her life living quietly on her little parcel of land. She changes when she attempts to shield her new neighbor and his ridiculous flying machine from constant ridicule. She gains further notoriety as a suffragette and avid advocate for health and sanitation. The triumph of a town and the indomitable spirits of the courageous women who founded the durable community is Americana at it's finest. Well done!
