Careful deviants........2007-02-14
If your looking for a book to aid you in seducing young maidens; this is not the book for you. This is a well written handbook for those who have a understanding of hypnosis, that wish to expand their knowledge to use it in the bedroom. The author will tell you right at the beginning that this takes two willing partispants to use this book. So all you misguided deviants beware of wasting your money trying to seduce women by purchasing this book.
Erotic Hypnosis is pure euphoric ecstasy!.......2006-01-26
As a certified hypnotist, I know that Peter Masters' guide to unleashing the euphoric power of HypnoSex (or Erotic Hypnosis) is a gift to the sexually adventurous! By tapping into the power of one's own erotic mind (where ALL our pleasure already originates), most anyone can experience explosive orgasms which can be even more intense than wildest fantasies!
"Hypnosis and sex" can be shared with oneself or one's partner in the bedroom or even during phone sex. Married couples or dating couples will enjoy exploring each other in new, exciting and playful ways. With little practice, women can achieve consistent, multiple orgasms. Men can achieve longer stamina and more powerful orgasms.
I particularly enjoy being able to delay my wife's orgasms, so that they can build to new levels of sexual highs. Male friends have told me that they now feel even more confident meeting women, because they know that they have something totally unique and special to eventually share with them. For them, it's almost like a "speed seduction".
"Look into My Eyes" can only enhance the intimacy which partners already share with each other. Do yourself a favor, DRIVE HIM OR HER (OR YOURSELF) EVEN MORE WILD & CRAZY IN AND OUT OF BED!
Sincerely,
Gerry@EroticHypnotist.com
A new "toy" for the bedroom.......2003-04-19
I was curious to read Master's book because I have been hypnotized several times myself - though in a therapeutic setting, not a sexual setting. I haven't yet tried the techniques outlined in Master's book (though I've passed my copy off to my partner and am curious to see where things go) but I can say, speaking from my own experience of being hypnotized many times, that Masters has written an excellent guide to hypnosis for the lay person. His instructions are clear and very detailed and he often explains the reasoning behind his instructions as well so that the reader will be able to confidently adapt the techniques for individual situations. Masters even covers many of the "glitches" I personally experienced as a hypnosis subject and explains ways to avoid or minimize those situations.
Masters spends a good amount of time explaining the ethics of hypnosis. This is very important since hypnosis requires a good amount of trust and is an activity that can be abused by the unscrupulous. Despite the possibility for abuse, however, Masters makes certain to point out that hypnosis cannot force someone to do things that they wouldn't otherwise be willing to do. This is not a book for someone who wants to trick people into going to bed with them or force people to do things against their will. This is not a book of techniques to save a failing marriage. Hypnosis is about enhancing what is already there, lowering inhibitions against following one's inherent desires, helping one to gain the courage to explore one's desires more closely and so on. The author does not come across as preachy when discussing ethics and his writing style makes it interesting to read what might otherwise be a dry topic.
The reader should expect to spend a lot of time and effort implementing the ideas in this book. This is not a book one just reads and then sets down and is done with -- to get the most out of this book, one has to be willing to work on the exercises. Progress is slow as Masters wisely advises couples to take their time getting into hypnosis. In fact, Masters strongly suggests that the first session consist only of hypnotizing one's partner, checking to see if they are in a trance, bringing them back out of the trance and talking about what happened. Don't expect to be able to read this book in the afternoon and then have fully hypnotized active sex that evening unless you are already an expert hypnotist and your partner is already a proven subject with whom you have worked before. If you want an instant sex toy, get a new vibrator. This book is for people who are willing and able to put a lot of effort and time into building creative and vibrant sex play.
For those interested in using the ideas in this book professionally (such as dominatrices and other sex workers), Masters offers sufficient information and advice that is readily adapted to a professional setting including a short section about the BDSM applications of hypnosis. He also covers what sort of people should most definitely not be hypnotized and workers can use this information for screening purposes to "risk out" those for whom hypnosis play would be more dangerous than erotic.
One of the most valuable aspects of this book, in my opinion, is the copious inclusion of scripts. When I think about hypnotizing a partner, my biggest fear is that I will not know what to say or not remember the best ways to phrase ideas. Masters includes scripts for inducing hypnosis, scripts for dealing with various hypnotic situations and even suggested scripts for sexual fantasy play. Of course many of these scripts should be modified so that they more accurately fit individual situations. A really dedicated reader could even type out the scripts with appropriate modifications and print out their own personal scripts for play sessions.
I found this to be an excellent book and clearly written. I am eager to begin working with the techniques to add a little extra spice to bedroom play between my partner and myself and recommend this book to anyone who wants to add some adventure and mystery to their sex life.
The eyes have it.......2002-10-21
Ever since reading the once infamous novel Trilby, in which the evil Dr. Svengali hypnotizes the innocent but untalented Trilby into becoming a brilliant pianist, I've been fascinated by hypnotism. Also, my partner says I make love as if I'm in a hypnotic trance anyway, so I thought I'd see if this book could help. Having been trained in hypnosis at the famous Svengali and Trilby Institute myself, I can only say that this book is a fine contribution to the field, especially for those guys (like me) whose modus amore, as it were, is indistinguishable from a zombi-like stupor. Highly recommended.
Can't personal say do it, but this book is a good intro.......2002-03-09
I won't be using hypnosis in my sex life or my mundane life but if you want to know a bit more about the topic and want to learn how to do it safely, Peter Masters has written an excellent introduction. He spends enough time on the safety issues to satisfy a safety freak like myself but in a way which isn't too frightening if you are already interested in the practice. Using scripts to demonstrate and re-enforce the procedure he has outline was a wonderful teaching method. He is also very realistic about what can and cannot be done using hypnosis though I think many of these activities and changes are likely to take more time than the average person is willing to spend. Another great non-fiction book from Greenery Press.

Book Description
I hope this book will inspire every reader to stop and consider things that are...so clearly meaningless that they never seemed worth a second thought....
Grass, the night sky, a postage stamp, a crack in the sidewalk, a shoulder. Ordinary objects of everyday life.
But when we look at them--really look at them--what do we see?
In the tradition of John Berger's bestselling Ways of Seeing, James Elkins's How to Use Your Eyes invites us to look at--and maybe to see for first time--the world around us, with breathtaking results. Here are the common artifacts of life, often misunderstood and largely ignored, brought into striking focus. A butterfly's wing pattern encodes its identity. A cloudless sky yields a precise sequence of colors at sunset. A bridge reveals the relationship of a population with its landscape. With the discerning eye of a painter and the zeal of a detective, Elkins also explores complicated things like mandalas, the periodic table, or a hieroglyph,remaking the world into a treasure box of observations--eccentric, ordinary, marvelous.
How to Use Your Eyes is a thrilling read evocative of the work of Diane Ackerman and Stephen Jay Gould. It will transform your view of nature and the mind.

Shares techniques & tips to enhance your power of observation, a critical survival skill!.......2006-10-21
HOW TO USE YOUR EYES
by James Elkin
I am a strong believer in the power of observation. Learning to see, really see, is not as easy as we would like to believe. Observation simply meant to notice, perceive or watch attentively, as Webster's Dictionary suggests. Observation is more than looking, it is learning from looking.
Why is it so important to be observant? I have come to realise that it is the vital key to optimum performance in science, in business, in sports & in other life pursuits, e.g. reading & writing, photography, etc. In reality, it's a critical survival skill!
Thousand years ago, Leonardo da vinci had proven its significance in his varied field of expertise. He said, in order to attain a complete mind, one must learn how to use all our senses, especially learn how to see.
Edward de bono, recognised as the world's authority on creativity, talked about it - perceptual sensitivity - first in his seminal work, Mechanism of Mind, in the late 60's & then in his many subsequent books on lateral thinking.
Many consultants/authors have since then pursued & reinforced the same line of thought.
Interestingly, to share with readers, I noted that the common denominator in the following important business words:
vision, visionary, imagination, illumination, enlightenment, foresight, farsighted, perspective, viewpoint, spectacle, inspection;
has a visual component: 'seeing'. Come to think about it, the word 'seer' even has 'see' in it!
I have also learned that the word 'idea' has its origins from a Greek word, which means 'to see'. Even the word 'intuition' originates from a Latin word 'intueri' which also means 'to see'.
So, how does one develop & enhance the power of observation?
I have found one very good book on the subject. It's 'How to Use Your Eyes' by James Elkin, who shares many techniques & tips. His book is both visually stunning & mentally stimulating. It is more of a field guide as the reader needs to physically exercise the 'world experience' by himself rather than just sit back & enjoy the 'word experience'!
In terms of my own 'world experience', my favorite chapters in the book have been:
How to look at:
- a postage stamp;
- pavement;
- engineering drawing (should have known this when I was an engineer);
- mandalas (may be too esoteric for some readers!);
- perspective pictures;
- a map;
- a face;
- a fingerprint - with the aid of a magnifying glass, of course);
- grass;
- a twig;
- sand;
- sunset;
- inside of your eye;
- colours;
- nothing (this one almost drove me bonkers!);
Frankly, I did not realise that there are so many things to see from "universally unnoticed" objects around me.
To share with readers, I would like to suggest another very good book, i.e. 'Playful Perceptions: Choosing How to Exerience Your World' by Herbert Leff.
'Everyday Wonders: Encountering with the Astonishing World Around Us' by Barry Evans is worth exploring, too.
Fusion of science and aesthetics.......2006-02-13
I ran across this while browsing through the QP section in my college library (QP being physiology, which is a bit odd; it really should be under the T section). The general theme of the book is looking at objects or aspects of objects which people often overlook. It's an excellent book for anyone with techy/nerdy interests in general, amateur artists, and science and art history students.
It might also be an unusual but very nice present for the kind of bright child who likes the Dorling Kindersley sort of books with lots of photos and explanations. They could browse through the pictures and then dig into the text as they get older. I know I'd have loved this when I was ten.
The book deals with very specific cases such as perspective drawings, X-rays, and bridge engineering, but reading it is also a great reminder to literally look at the little things in life - there's an amazing amount of information and beauty to be found in small details.
I OFTEN REREAD THIS.......2004-12-23
...particularly the chapter "How to Look at Oil Painings". The chapter is about looking at the crack pattern on the back of an oil painting and how you can tell a lot of information about the type of painting, and when it was painted, just from that crack pattern. Lots of the other chapters are excellent as well, but this one tickles me each time I reread it. I would recommend a prospective buyer pick up a copy at a bookstore, and read a chapter at random. If you like that chapter, chances are you will be delighted with the entire book.
P.S. Another book worth looking for that approaches this topic from a different viewpoint is THE AWAKENED EYE by Ross Parmenter.
Many short and wonderful vignettes.......2001-11-27
How to Use Your Eyes by James Elkins invites us to look at -- and maybe to see for first time -- the world around us, with breathtaking results. Note, only a little of this book is about colors. Other chapters include things that everyone sees, but no one notices: cracks in pavement, culverts under highways, grass, sand. We appreciated sunsets much more after reading this book.
Palm Tree Eyes.......2001-09-02
I love this book. I love the fussy little details. I took this book to school, and two eigth-graders were fighting over it. They were eager to show other students and me the gems they had found in it. Thanks to Marcia for giving it to me.

Good Step-by-Step Collage Book.......2006-01-19
I like this book, along with Creative Collage Techniques by Nita Leland. As a beginner, I needed something that would give me the information I needed and to spark my creative juices.
This book includes a Materials and Ingredients list for each project and Recipes throughout. There was cornstarch paste recipe, which may be something I try at a later date, but I want to keep it simple for now. The book has great photographs and text that show the steps needed to complete the project. It also includes a gallery of collage art by various artists. Collage Art covers paper, fabric, found object collage and collagraphy "the process of making a print from a collage plate".
A very nice book to add to your collection.
Nice Addition to the Collage Library.......2005-08-19
I rate this book a 4-star only because it's several year old. The inspiration here is terrific. I question some of the "how to's" only because there are other methods available now(no need to make your own glue). Acrylic medium is the best adhesive available for collage art. It touches on fabric collage as well. The gallery of work is wonderful. You cannot (and should not) duplicate, but your are given enough inspiration to create your own work. I would say this book is big on "Look what you could do" and little light on the "How to". Still . . . a good keeper. Excellent and plentiful full-color photos.
Lush, be inspired!.......2003-10-09
I've had my share of disappointments with collage books. So much of the rubber stamping craft craze has moved into what we call "Collage".
I was afraid this book would be hyping rubber stamp and craft company
products. Never have I been so WRONG!
This book is by and for artists who are working on original ideas. The "how to's" are not for cookie cutter projects but informative in recipes (wheat paste glue) and techniques. All work in this book is by serious,
original artists.
This book has me planning two days off to play around with some of my own ideas using the techniques of application of paint and materials in this book.
You won't be sorry, buy the book!
Releasing my "Inner Artist".......2001-10-26
I have long been interested in collage and recently decided to try my hand at it. To facilitate this, I got several books on the subject. This was one of the nicest and most complete.
Atkinson's beautiful book was a great help. I liked the way collage artists showed, step by step, how they created their collages. The photgraphy of the pieces was excellent, making it a very visually appealing book.
My only disappointment was that the book did not cover what materials to use, what glue to paste with, what different kinds of papers are available, and preservation of the finished work. This is not the fault of the author....she never claimed that the book was a beginner's guide.
Overall, this was a great resource book.
Collage for the conoissier..........2001-05-28
This book is dedicated to those who already know the first steps of collage works: what materials to use, what glue to paste with, what elements to include... but it gives an amazing amount of ideas and new approaches that are awesome. You can't miss this publication if you are collage-prone. It's a delight for the eye and helps you understand how artists use their skills and imagination. Take a look!... Am I wrong?
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful!.......2001-07-18
This is a great book that does what it says--it takes you step-by-step through the art of "realistic" (representational) collage. The author describes the various media (mostly paper, but also metal & fabric) for the finished collage and the different ways to adhere those media. The book also contains a section on other methods of achieving realistic collage by looking at other artists' work. It's definately worth the money if you enjoy collage.
Fabulous collage ideas!.......2000-08-21
Originally saw this book while visiting the artist's gallery in Maine. It is attractive, concise and FULL of ideas for tons of projects. The book does a great job of inviting people to use their own creativity while giving them guidance and support. I would recommend it to both beginners and advanced collage artists.

not very exciting.......2005-01-11
The projects in this thin book are too advanced for the instructions given. The designs are pretty "finished" in some cases, but with just a couple of paragraphs describing what was done. My favorite project was the "junk mirror" with stuff glued to it and then painted. Still, it's way cooler than what a kid at this reading level could expect to make. Besides copying the various projects, the book didn't inspire me to make anything myself.
