Kenneth Lang's classic work Astrophysical Formulae. (Vol. I and II) is now available as soft cover edition in a set. This volume is a reference source of fundamental formulae in physics and astrophysics. In contrast to most of the usual compendia it carefully explains the physical assumptions entering the formulae. All the important results of physical theories are covered: electrodynamics, hydrodynamics, general relativity, atomic and nuclear physics, and so on. Over 2100 formulae are included, and the original papers for the formulae are cited together with papers on modern applications in a bibliography of over 1900 entries. For the third edition (first published in 1999), a chapter on space, time, matter and cosmology had been included and the other chapters carefully revised.

I find this book to be packed with information on the nature of reality. Unlike my experience with many books on spirituality, I find myself returning to this book again and again. The truths that Jesus reveals in modern American English hit home whether he is explaining the nature of the heart, the physics of the universe or the ten commandments. Here is revealed both the deep love of Jesus for all people and an unflinching guide to all of life. All of this is presented free from dogma, free from religiosity, and free from condemnation.

The warmth, love, compassion, wisdom and joy that radiate from this book is, at times, overwhelming! For me, this is a book that one must keep so that it can be referred to time and again, as I simply am not spiritually advanced enough to get most of the information on a first, second and maybe even third pass. I hope to hear Glenda speak some day and I'd love to see her painting up close and personal. Buy the book and cherish it!

As an occasional reader of Christian content, I am very picky about what I read and what captures my interest. Not only does this book capture my interest but challenges my own religious paradigm. Reading this book has definitely captured my interest and has created quite a stir in me. There are only three ways to take this book: -She's shared amazing life changing information, -She is delusional, -She is lying... The content is that thought provoking.

Anne Wingate, writing as Lee Martin, has a little known and much beloved series of police procedurals with one of the most interesting heroines in women's mysteries.
Although the Thursday Club is not one of the top books in the series (it is #13), it holds your interest, keeps you guessing, and leaves off with still another twist & turn in the family life of Deb Ralston.
Please, Lee....bring her back for more!
Deb Ralston's Last Case?.......2001-01-09
I have read and re-read the Deb Ralston series. They are wonderful police procedurals (written by an ex-cop), but they are even more wonderful character studies. Deb is a Ft. Worth police detective who possesses an immense amount of empathy and intuitiveness in her crime solving. She is also a wife, mother - with 3 adopted children of mixed ethnicity, as well as one natural child - and is earthmother to a whole tribe of friends, family and, in some cases, suspects. Her intuition often leads her to make leaps in logic, going from point A to point C, but she arrives at the answers sooner, rather than later. The Thursday Club is one of the weaker books in the series, primarily because the continuity is missing. Deb has aged 5 years from the last book, but her children haven't. Some of the colorful friends from previous books are missing, and there is less about her personal life in this book. However, it is well worth the effort. The only thing more frustrating than the breaks in continuity has been waiting more than 3 years for the next Deb Ralston. I hope that this series doesn't go the way of the author's other series, written as Anne Wingate. It ended abruptly and no new book has been forthcoming. Deb is an old friend, and I want to see more of her.

I've read most of the Deb Ralston series and have really enjoyed them. They make you think. I like the way we can get into Deb's thoughts--even though she's sometimes wrong. The books are quite interesting and fun while you try to figure out who-done-it. I'm looking forward to the next one!

A unique history of a idiosyncratic group.......2006-09-25
Ben Bistline's history of the First Ward of Colorado City is unique excursion into a secretive group dedicated to a non-mainstream set of beliefs and practice. The Colorado City Polygamists is the shorter version of this history and is more suited to the general (and in particular) non-LDS reader. While a background in restorationist religious history is useful it is not essential to enjoying this insider view of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints (or FLDS). The book is full of names and events of the 20th century development of a utopian group dedicated to a practice now shunned by the mainstream LDS church. For a student of American utopian experiments this story has the typical and sad end of most American experiments in group living with the rise of charismatic and erratic leader leading the people into the wilderness in the nominal pursuit of purity and truth. Do not look for sensational from this book but a respectful yet tough telling of the inside religious story of a eccentric group of American utopians.

Not a very well written book and there are many typos. I think the author assumes the reader is knowledgeable of the Mormon religion, which may not be the case for some. The title leads you to believe this is a story about a young woman and her struggles. Author wrote more about the Utah district attorney, Principal Voices (pro-polygamy women's group), and polygamist men. Because of the title, I wanted to know more about Rachel Strong and her life and how she is doing now. If you want to write a book that's anti-polygamy, then do that. If you want to write a book about Rachel Strong, then do that. Don't mix the message! I bought this book after seeing the author highlighted on HBO's Big Love outtakes. I would not recommend it to anyone. :-(

This book presents a lot of information, but it really isn't that interesting if your looking for a good polygamy book. It reads kind of like an encyclopedia. Informative, but boring.
Polygamy Revealed.......2007-08-13
I saw Mr. Llewellyn on the HBO special for the series Big Love. I am a huge fan of the show and have become fascinated by the way polygamists live their lives. The Rape of Rachael Strong is a good, quick read filled with instances and examples that help you understand how dire the situation (especially on compounds) are for women and children and how this sexist society breaks and creates the rules according to what's convenient for them. I was shocked, amazed and offended by much of what Mr. Llewellyn brought to light.
I would recommend it.

Being such a die-hard Astros fan, this book was a must-have for me. Once I started reading it I just couldn't stop! It brought back floods of memories from games I had been to and watched on TV, and I felt as if I was living every moment again.
