Highly detailed in every way. Complete equations suitable for computer programming. In fact, Rosemount and other companies refer to this handbook exclusively. The index is the best way to use this book. As handbooks go, it is easy to use and an excellent compilation of vendor information as well as original R&D information. There are a few quarks in the equations for integral orifices, but the actual errors are negligable. I got improved equations from Rosemount. The only reason why I did not give 5 stars is that it takes some time to dig information from the handbook. It's all there, but, it takes time to digest it. You must have this book if you encounter instruments, particularly, flow metes, during your work. You must have this book!

This volume is an information-packed reference for engineers on flow measuring techniques and instruments. The book begins with a brief review of fluid mechanics principles, how to select a flowmeter, and a variety of calibration methods. Each of the following chapters is devoted to a class of flowmeters and includes detailed information on design, applications, installation, calibration, operation, and advantages and disadvantages. Among the flowmeters discussed are orifice plate meters, venturi meter and standard nozzles, critical flow venturi nozzles, positive displacement flowmeters, turbine and related flowmeters, vortex shedding and fluidic flowmeters, electromagnetic flowmeters, ultrasonic flowmeters, and coriolis flowmeters. A tool for writing specifications on flow instruments.......2006-06-02
This book condenses many latest papers on flow instruments into useful but brief information for instrument engineers working in industry. I found it very useful for writing flow instrument procurement and design specifications. The materials described for each type of flow instrument can prepare the engineers in a short time (within 2 - 3 days) to become a knowledgeable person in the specific area including the latest development in flow measurement. A book I carried to work without showing it to my colleaques.

A wide compilation on Fluid Mechanics topics.......2000-04-26
This Handbook is a very good compilation of classic and modern topics on Fluid Mechanics and its applications, with special emphasis in modern topics. Due to the depth and detail of the treatment of some topics, it exceeds the level of a Handbook. The scarce extension in the treatment of each topic lets an unavoidable sensation that the Handbook would be able to continue deepening and extending the exposition; this limitation, that would drive to an enormous Encyclopedia of doubtful applicability, is saved by an extensive list of references at the end of each chapter, being one of the prominent characteristics of this Handbook.
About the treatment of the different topics, we remark:
- the emphasis in Computational Fluid Dynamics, as many to dedicating it practically half a volume of the 3 making the Handbook - the same observation is valid for Experimental techniques - an extensive revision of available videotapes and didactic movies - the excellent presentation of some topics that not only overcomes the Handbook level but that of many texts (i.e., Internal flows, Separated flows, Stability in pumps and compressors) - the wide revision of specific topics of Fluid Mechanics (i.e. Transonic and Hypersonic flows, Unsteady flows, Complex flows, Multiphase flows, etc.) - the wide revision of specific application topics of Fluid Mechanics (lubrication, acoustics, combustion, fluid dynamics in nature, vehicles drag and lift, cavitation, ship propellers, helicopter rotors, etc.)
The character of Handbook and collective work doesn't impede a methodical treatment of the topics; nevertheless, in this work there are some particularities that it is thought they should be corrected: - some topics are exposed more than once (i.e. load losses in pipes, pressure losses in bends) - some chapters are inserted in an unnatural way (for example, Ch. 2 Properties of Fluids, Ch. 17 Videotapes and Movies). It would be preferable to put them, as usual, to the end of the book as Anexes to have an easier access for consultation. - the treatment of some topics leaves a sensation of insufficient material included. For example, Hydraulic Turbines, Wind Turbines. - some topics would benefit of a more modernized mathematical treatment, using matricial tools more extensively (i.e., Non newtonian liquids)
In summary:
It's a very good Handbook that highlights mainly for the variety of focused topics and their up-to-date content. The wide list of references makes it extremely useful for an approach to the current topics of Fluids Mechanics and its applications.

Pretty good, just HUGE.......2006-09-08
There are some excellent selections from the poetry, short fiction, and drama genres in here. Oedipus Rex, Hamlet, Battle Royal, etc. You also have some dogs. Proof, the Red Wheelbarow (and other William Carlos Williams poems). Bottom line, whoever edited this anthology had no idea the amount of books a college student carries around and this one is very large. There's a lot of filler here, so suggestion to Bedford: take out some of the non-essentials to slim down this book. One semester doesn't cover 1,200 pages.

This book was used in my Advanced Placement English course in high school, and was so thorough I had to buy a copy of my own to take with me to college! Contains a wealth of literature, from short stories and novel excerpts to poems and full-length works of drama. This guide also contains comprehensive literary criticism to compliment the pieces delivered, as well as a guide to writing and reading critically--a must for any college English student!

This book is wonderful for developing ananlytical thought and critical literature development for both young men and women and older generations. This anthology contains: Poetry, Short Stories, and plays. The subjects range from the conflict between the interests of a parents and their child, growing up and discovering the world, and romance. This anthology contains such legendary works as: The Glass Menagerie, A Doll House, and eternal A Rose for Emily. Overall, I highly recommend this book as an edcational tool for an High School classes or as a nice collection of short works to read.

Having majored in English myself, I honestly believe that this is the book that should be used for AP Literature classes or college Intro classes. Not only do you get introduction to the formal elements of each genre (fiction, poetry and drama), you get sound writing instruction, an introduction to critical theory and scholarship, in depth treatment of major authors in each genre(ie Nathaniel Hawthorne, Emily Dickinson, etc.)and even some cool selections like a Bruce Springsteen song in with the poems, and an episode of Seinfeld in the drama section. To top it off, you even get collections of World Literature and Modern Literature for each genre, something that expands the literary canon beyond the basics. The questions at the end of each piece are fabulous, really thought provoking. This is a perfect introduction to Literature, especially for AP kids preparing for college level English studies, or for college kids who are only planning to take one literature course.
