KDP - Family Single Crystals (Series on Optics and Optoelectronics)
L.N Rashkovich Manufacturer: Taylor & Francis ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 0750301058 |
Book Description
The KDP family of single crystals is composed of compounds of alkali metals with light or heavy (hydro, deutero) water and oxides of phosphate or arsenate, including ammonium, potassium, rubidium and caesium dihydro- and dideutero-phosphates, and similar arsenates. While not occurring in nature, their production exceeds that of any other water-soluble crystals and the demand for bigger and more optically pure crystals is ever increasing. KDP-Family Single Crystals is a comprehensive investigation of the crystallization mechanism for these systems. The first part of the book collects the majority of the available data on the physico-chemical analysis of these systems. This is complemented by a review of contemporary concepts related to the crystal growth dislocation mechanism under the influence of impurities, changing supersaturation, and temperature. This is not only relevant to the growth of KDP single crystals but to the majority of crystals grown from low- and high-temperature solutions. Finally, attention is given to the important problem of speeding up the production processes for the growth of these crystals while maintaining the quality of the crystals. The in-depth coverage that KDP-Family Single Crystals provides to the art of crystal growth techniques makes it an essential reference work for all those working in the field of crystal growth and to those using KDP-family crystals in quantum electronics devices.

Advances in Crystal Growth Inhibition Technologies
Manufacturer: Springer ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 0306464993 |
Book Description
In this book, academic researchers and technologists will find important information on the interaction of polymeric and non-polymeric inhibitors with a variety of scale forming crystals such as calcium phosphates, calcium carbonate, calcium oxalates, barium sulfate, calcium pyrophosphates, and calcium phosphonates. Moreover, the book delivers information to plant managers and formulators who would like to broaden and deepen their knowledge about processes involved in precipitation of sparingly soluble salts and learn more about the inhibitory aspects of various commercially available materials. Furthermore, experienced researchers will obtain fruitful and inspiring ideas from the easily accessible information about overlapping research areas, which will promote discoveries of new inhibitors (synthetic and/or natural) for the currently unmet challenges.

50 Years Progress in Crystal Growth: A Reprint Collection
Manufacturer: Elsevier Science ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 0444516506 |
Book Description
There is no question that the field of solid state electronics, which essentially began with work at Bell laboratories just after World War II, has had a profound impact on today's Society. What is not nearly so widely known is that advances in the art and science of crystal growth underpin this technology. Single crystals, once valued only for their beauty, are now found, in one form or another in most electronic, optoelectronic and numerous optical devices. These devices, in turn, have permeated almost every home and village throughout the world. In fact it is hard to imagine what our electronics industry, much less our entire civilization, would have been like if crystal growth scientists and engineers were unable to produce the large, defect free crystals required by device designers.Customer Reviews:

The Blue Laser Diode: The Complete Story

ASIN: 3540665056 |
Book Description
Shuji Nakamura's development of a blue semiconductor laser on the basis of GaN opens the way for a host of new applications of semiconductor lasers. The wavelengths can be tuned by controlling the composition. For the first time it is possible to produce lasers with various wavelengths, ranging from red through yellow and green to blue, in one substrate material. This fact, together with their high efficiency, makes GaN-based lasers very useful for a wide spectrum of applications. The second edition of this basic book on GaN-based devices has been updated and significantly extended. It includes a survey of worldwide research on GaN, as well as Nakamura's latest important developments. The reader finds a careful introduction to the physics and properties of GaN. The main part of the book deals with the production and characteristics of GaN LDs and LEDs. To complete the spectrum of applications, GaN power devices are also described.Customer Reviews:

Hydrothermal Technology for Crystal Growth (Materials and Processing Technology)
K. Byrappa , and Masahiro Yoshimura Manufacturer: Noyes Publications ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 081551445X |
Book Description
Quartz, zeolites, gemstones, perovskite type oxides, ferrites, carbon allotropes, complex coordinated compounds and many more - all products now being produced using hydrothermal technology. HANDBOOK OF HYDROTHERMAL TECHNOLOGY brings together the latest techniques in this rapidly advancing field in one exceptionally useful, long-needed volume.
The Handbook provides a single source for understanding how aqueous solvents or mineralizers work under temperature and pressure to dissolve and recrystallize normally insoluble materials, and decompose or recycle any waste material. The result, as the authors show in the book, is technologically the most efficient method in crystal growth, materials processing and waste treatment.
The book gives scientists and technologists an overview of the entire subject. In addition, readers get a close look at the hydrothermal synthesis of zeolites, fluorides, sulfides, tungstates, and molybdates, as well as native elements and simple oxides. Delving into the commercial production of crystals of various types, the authors clarify the effects of temperature, pressure, solvents, and various other chemical components on the hydrothermal processes.
Key Features:
- Evolution of the technology from geology to a technology with widespread industrial use today
- Descriptions of the equipment used in the process and how it works
- Problems involved with the growth of crystals, processing of technological materials, environmental and safety issues
- Analysis of where today's technology is heading

Crystals in Gels and Liesegang Rings
Heinz K. Henisch Manufacturer: Cambridge University Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0521018188 |
Book Description
Providing the first comprehensive overview of the method of crystal growth in gels, Professor Henisch reviews the field, covering the underlying physics as well as the empirical experience of growth techniques accumulated over the past century. In addition, the book discusses the phenomenon of periodic precipitation, which often governs the distribution of crystal in laboratory growth systems. For the first time, computer techniques are brought to bear on the subject, the diffusion equations being solved numerically, in association with the conditions governing precipitations and crystal growth.
