A Rhapsody in Green.......2005-04-12
An inspiring collection of architectural photographs - fabulous gardens and, indeed, 'interiorscapes', the author Paul Cooper is to be commended.
Whether it's destined to be a glamorous coffee table book, or a very much used and drawn upon library acquisition, this book will satisfy, amaze & delight.
Enough of the hyperbole, eh?
Containing detailed architectural drawings of some 6 sections, covering in detail over 100 properties, some complete with draft plans.
Some are impossibly lovely, all are inspiring - even for the humble home garden enthusiast there are plenty of ideas and tips to pick up on.
For anyone planning to build or renovate a home, this book should be pored over - you may find you cannot do without a central courtyard, complete with lush orange blossom trees, or a lotus pond.
There are innovated multi-storey gardens, a whole chapter on them, 'Inner Sanctuaries' courtyard & other variations, as well as 'Living architecture' which includes some detail on the amazing pyrimad like Acros Building in Fukuoka, Japan.
'Off the Wall' is a chapter covering a vast array of inspired and adventurous combinations, from art installations to The HUNDERTWASSER HOUSE, of Vienna a building which "returned to nature a small corner of an otherwise plantless city enviroment".
There is also 'Enclosed Gardeen Rooms' and 'Gardens under Glass'. Oh the abundance, the verdant rooms the lush foliage!
Text is easy to follow and fascination, whilst incredibly detailed & well reasoned, with researched & carefully formulated angles & opinions.
A must for any enthusiast!

The genius of Odyssey.......2007-06-18
I have listened to Adventures in Odyssey for 8 years, It is by far the greatest Radio Drama Series I have ever heard. The genius in Odyssey consists not only of the interesting stories, characters, and superb writing. But, in the understated comedy of the show, When listening to this you will find yourself smiling, and laughing (and maybe even falling off your chair) In the midst of the craziness and stress of life. It teaches christian values and principals, all while keeping kids laughing and interested, Though its geared toward children, its a show for all ages. With something to keep everyone interested. This particular Odyssey album Into the Light, is a fantastic example of everything Odyssey has represented throughout the years. As the 47th album in a long line of wonderful albums, It definately lives up to Odysseys legacy. I would highly recommend this album and all the others to people of every age. You will not be sorry, and you'll catch yourself buying up all the other albums as well.... A very worth while investment.

Book Description
With her hallmark blend of sparkling style and wit, intricate suspense, and steamy passion, Jayne Ann Krentz is truly one of a kind. One of today's premier storytellers, she has more than twenty-three million copies of her novels in print. Now the phenomenal New York Times bestselling author spins her latest scintillating tale: a story of two people bound together by that most binding of ties--a business contract.
Elizabeth Cabot is all business. She knows how to maximize her investments and cut her losses--in both her career and her personal life.
So when she discovers that Jack Fairfax has deceived her, she's determined to end their relationship. Putting a stop to their budding romance is easy. But breaking up their business deal will be more difficult. Despite all her efforts, she has no luck disentangling herself from Jack's client company, Excalibur. But the situation becomes even more strained when a new obstacle emerges: a lethal act of sabotage that could put both of them out of business for good.
Elizabeth is no fool. If she can help Jack save Excalibur, she'll recoup her substantial investment plus millions in profit. Putting her emotions aside, she insists on helping him search for the scientist who's disappeared with a valuable new crystal that could revolutionize the high-tech industry. She'll go in, solve the problem--and get out.
The trail leads Elizabeth and Jack to a fringe film festival, but their goal is as elusive as the shadowy black-and-white images from classic noir films. Life starts to imitate art, and double-dealing seems to be the name of the game. For these business adversaries turned reluctant partners, keeping an eye on each other--and the lid on a sizzling attraction--seems the only insurance against further treachery. But with millions at stake, trust can turn to betrayal in the blink of an eye.
Customer Reviews:
Boring.......2006-07-27
I finally gave up on this book around page 200 and moved on. Can Krentz develop another plot other than the Seatle business man, saving a family business? She did it best with Wildest Hearts and she has failed to live up to that success here. Even the love scenes were boring, well, actually nonexistant and the characters were flat. Skip this book and save yourself the boredom.
a very enjoyable JAK.......2004-09-17
Soft Focus was a very enjoyable Single Title Romantic Suspense (meaning before Krentz and her publishers started doing the Trilogy releases - 1 good strong tale followed by two weaker ones). It was a very enjoyable read, but not Krentz at her best.
In Soft Focus, Elizabeth is an all business heroine (typical JAK!). She applies the same cost and profit in her business life to her romance life. So after a one night stand with Jack Fairfax, and Elizabeth discovers Jack deceived her, she wants to
cut her losses. Jack is not willing to let her do it, and uses their business contract to keep a leash on the spunky lady.
Jack owns Excalibur, a cutting edge technology firm. When he discovers there is sabotage going on that could put them both in the red financially, Elizabeth has to let Jack back into her life. If she helps Jack save Excalibur, she stands to make millions of dollars. Together they search for a missing scientist who made off with a new special crystal. Elizabeth and Jack follow the clues to a film festival and the fun begins, with Jack keeping an eye on winning Elizabeth back as well as saving his firm.
A very deft tale from a talented writer. Super use of Multi-POV (Point of View), the way all romances should be written!
EXCELLENT PAIRING OF READERS.......2004-02-22
Jayne Ann Krentz is acclaimed for creating strong, independent characters and she sticks to this proven formula with businesswoman Elizabeth Cabot, a gal who knows how to run a company and her life.
Forced to work with a former lover, Jack Fairfax, she is put to the test when a lab is reduced to rubble, a technician is murdered, and valuable crystal that could revolutionize an industry disappears.
The pairing of readers Hill and Breck is brilliant as they treat listeners to simmering romance and a suspenseful tale.
Un-baked cake..........2002-10-23
I used to really enjoy JAK, but her recent books have been less than wonderful. This book almost pushed me to give up on her. It's as if she doesn't care about character development or emotional intensity. I got the impression she was writing a Harlequinn novel (no offense to Harlequin fans) or that she had a deadline to get a book out. She didn't even seem to do much research with reference to the technology that was the focus of the story-line.
Not her best effort. Try Linda Howard, if you want to remember what JAK used to be like...
running out of steam.......2001-07-10
I used to love Jayne Ann Krentz but this book has pretty much ended it for me. The plot is pretty good but the hero and heroine just didn't grab me. The book seems tired as if the author is running out of steam.

Singles: Get Heart-Fit.......2007-02-13
Our church singles ministry has been using this book in conjunction with a physical fitness program we are coordinating with the local YMCA. It offers a perfect analogy between physical and spiritual fitness routines, and our group discussions have been amazing. Carol Ruvolo is very scripturally sound in her teaching. The book claims to be written for women, but it is excellent for men as well. As a strong Baptist believer, I strongly recomend this book. Doctrinal differences are minor. Thank you Carol, for a wonderful resource! Col. 3:1-2 has already influenced me in my ability to counsel others. The principals are constantly able to be applied in my personal life and ministry.

Customer Reviews:
A radical approach!.......2000-08-29
Carol Ruvolo approaches prayer from what would be considered a radical direction for most Christians -- praying God's own words back to Him. Her idea of "open-book" prayer takes our focus off of ourselves and teaches us to focus on God by praying according to His revealed will. Anyone serious about revitalizing their prayer life can find no better inspiration than this book.
