PROTEIN DESIGN LABS, INC.: International Competitive Benchmarks and Financial Gap Analysis
Manufacturer: ICON Group International, Inc. ProductGroup: Book Binding: Digital ASIN: B0001667E6 Release Date: 2003-12-02 |
Book Description
Though we heavily rely on historical performance, the figures reported in this report are not historical but are forecasts and projections for the coming fiscal year. The forecasts are updated quarterly. This particular report was updated in the last quarter. In order to maintain comparability over time and across companies and countries, we use an index system. In the case of a firm's assets, we treat the total assets as equaling 100, irrespective of the value of the local currency. All other assets are then calculated as a percent from total assets. In this way, the structure of the firm's assets can be easily interpreted and compared with international benchmarks. For liabilities, total liabilities and equity are indexed to equal to 100. For the income statement, total revenue is indexed to equal 100, and all other figures are calculated as a percent of these figures. Ratios are projected using raw financial statistics and, as ratios, are therefore comparable. The source(s) for the various raw statistics include public filings, corporate releases, and various other data sources.Download Description

PROTEIN DESIGN LABS, INC.: International Competitive Benchmarks and Financial Gap Analysis (Financial Performance Series)
Icon Group Ltd. , and Icon Group Ltd. Manufacturer: Icon Group International ProductGroup: Book Binding: Ring-bound ASIN: 0597181543 |
Book Description
The goal of this report is to assist managers in gauging a company's financial performance vis-a-vis firms competing in the same sector, at the global level. In particular, this report covers PROTEIN DESIGN LABS, INC., MOUNTAIN VIEW, USA. With the globalization of markets, greater foreign competition, and the reduction of entry barriers, it becomes all the more important to benchmark a company's performance against other firms on a worldwide basis. Doing so, however, is not an obvious task. First, one needs to find firms competing in the same sector. Second, one needs to control for exchange rate volatility. Finally, one needs to use comparable financial standards. This report overcomes these issues and gives full financial benchmarks vis-a-vis worldwide competitors who are present in the same narrow industrial classification. Benchmarks cover assets, liabilities, income and ratios. Since our reports are printed on demand, the statistics reported are for the latest quarter and are the most up to date available (4 reports are produced each year). Each report provides over 100 statistics and 40 graphs to the reader.

The Geometric Phase in Quantum Systems: Foundations, Mathematical Concepts, and Applications in Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics (Theoretical and Mathematical Physics)
J. Zwanziger Manufacturer: Springer ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover Similar Items:
Accessories:
ASIN: 3540000313 |
Book Description
Aimed at graduate physics and chemistry students, this is the first comprehensive monograph covering the concept of the geometric phase in quantum physics from its mathematical foundations to its physical applications and experimental manifestations. It contains all the premises of the adiabatic Berry phase as well as the exact Anandan-Aharonov phase. It discusses quantum systems in a classical time-independent environment (time dependent Hamiltonians) and quantum systems in a changing environment (gauge theory of molecular physics). The mathematical methods used are a combination of differential geometry and the theory of linear operators in Hilbert Space. As a result, the monograph demonstrates how non-trivial gauge theories naturally arise and how the consequences can be experimentally observed. Readers benefit by gaining a deep understanding of the long-ignored gauge theoretic effects of quantum mechanics and how to measure them.

High Resolution NMR: Theory and Chemical Applications, 3rd Edition
Edwin D. Becker Manufacturer: Academic Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 0120846624 |
Book Description
High Resolution NMR provides a broad treatment of the principles and theory of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) as it is used in the chemical sciences. It is written at an "intermediate" level, with mathematics used to augment, rather than replace, clear verbal descriptions of the phenomena. The book is intended to allow a graduate student, advanced undergraduate, or researcher to understand NMR at a fundamental level, and to see illustrations of the applications of NMR to the determination of the structure of small organic molecules and macromolecules, including proteins. Emphasis is on the study of NMR in liquids, but the treatment also includes high resolution NMR in the solid state and the principles of NMR imaging and localized spectroscopy.

Calculation of NMR and EPR Parameters: Theory and Applications
Manufacturer: Wiley-VCH ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 3527307796 |
Book Description
This is the first book to present the necessary quantum chemical methods for both resonance types in one handy volume, emphasizing the crucial interrelation between NMR and EPR parameters from a computational and theoretical point of view. Here, readers are given a broad overview of all the pertinent topics, such as basic theory, methodic considerations, benchmark results and applications for both spectroscopy methods in such fields as biochemistry, bioinorganic chemistry as well as with different substance classes, including fullerenes, zeolites and transition metal compounds. The chapters have been written by leading experts in a given area, but with a wider audience in mind.
The result is the standard reference on the topic, serving as a guide to the best computational methods for any given problem, and is thus an indispensable tool for scientists using quantum chemical calculations of NMR and EPR parameters.
A must-have for all chemists, physicists, biologists and materials scientists who wish to augment their research by quantum chemical calculations of magnetic resonance data, but who are not necessarily specialists in these methods or their applications. Furthermore, specialists in one of the subdomains of this wide field will be grateful to find here an overview of what lies beyond their own area of focus.

Multiparticle Quantum Scattering with Applications to Nuclear, Atomic and Molecular Physics (The IMA Volumes in Mathematics and its Applications)
Manufacturer: Springer ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 0387949992 |
Book Description
The topics in this volume include the ideas of mathematicians, physicists and chemists in the area of multiparticle scattering theory. Scattering theory (or collision theory as it is often called) is a fundamental area of theory and computation in both physics and chemistry. The correct formulation of scattering theory for two-body collisions is now well worked out, but systems with three or more particles still present fundamental unmet challenges, both in the formulations of the problem and in the interpretation of computational results. A key issue in the mathematical foundations is asymptotic completeness, which says that any state of a quantum system is a superposition of bound and scattering states. Key issues on the physical side are concerned with boundary conditions, electromagnetic fields, effective potentials and resonances.
