Book Description
Determining the precise timing for the evolutionary origin of groups of organisms has become increasingly important as scientists from diverse disciplines attempt to examine rates of anatomical or molecular evolution and correlate intrinsic biological events to extrinsic environmental events. Molecular clock analyses indicate that many major groups are twice as old, or more, than a literal reading of the fossil record attests, implying that the fossil record is incomplete. Few paleontologists agree that the fossil record is inadequate, arguing instead that our understanding of the molecular clock is far from ideal. Telling the Evolutionary Time: Molecular Clocks and the Fossil Record represents a discussion between molecular biologists and paleontologists, in which they investigate the significance of competing sources of data, explain the nature of molecular clocks and the fossil record, and strive to develop compromise models that incorporate contradictory opinions. These are presented as a series of case studies dealing with many of the most important groups of complex organisms, such as protists, land plants, flowering plants, complex animals, chordates, vertebrates, tetrapods, and modern birds. Bringing fresh insight and various perspectives to a complicated argument, this book assembles all sides of the debate into one comprehensive text. It is a significant volume for research scientists and advanced students across the field of evolutionary biology.

I found this book to be a pretty good review for A and P. I used it as a reference for my A and P college class. I also used the following which was in even more on target with making the information easier to understand:

This is the study guide to the textbook by the same name. I found this book to be an excellent tool to help me remember and understand the endless array of information that a student needs to know when taking an A & P course. The guide is broken down by chapters that match to the textbook exactly - it includes matching exercises, labeling exercises, coloring of bodyparts, and numerous review questions. I would recomend this to any student taking an A & P course regardless of which textbook is being used during lecture class

great textbook adjunct.......2006-11-27
This book was really useful - the coloring parts are especially good if you are a visual learner. There's also more to it than just coloring in pictures - there are lots of fill-in-the-blanks sections to test your knowledge and review major ideas. This is where the only criticism lies....if you don't have the textbook (or a good knowledge of the material) then some sections will be hard to complete. Answers are provided, however, so overall, it is a really useful book and offers more than you might first assume.

The paper has a wax like feel. It is slippery for colored pencil. There is not enough tooth in the paper to hold the colored pencil. No fun. :(
Great filler and study guide.......2006-07-21
I needed a good 'filler' and study guide for my Anatomy classes and this seems to fill the need beautifully. Not used it yet but will come back after the year starts in Sept. and give an update.

Great reference for my gross anatomy class.......2003-06-27
I liked this book because it make anatomy much easier to retain because of the detailed pictures showing the structures of the body. I'm a visual learner and found this book to be very good in showing me the difference in location between various ligaments and bones etc. I also used the following which is also available on amazon:

This easy to understand review is good for A and P students. It's a good review and I recommend it for any college A and P student. Her textbook is also good because it is easier to understand than some other textbooks. I also recommend
which is on amazon... Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations Vol 1, and Vol 2 by Patrick Leonardi. The explanations are great because they tell you why the other choices are wrong and it also defines the other choices. Being once a college A and P student, I found these study guides helped me earn better grades.
