Book Description
You're probably asking yourself what the "red zone" has to do with golf. We've simply borrowed a term from football and applied it to that space on the golf course - 100 yards from the green and in - where, just like in football, you can make the biggest impact on your score. We believe we've created a program that golf has never seen, one that combines motivation to improve your short game with easy-to-follow steps for getting there.
Here's our guarantee: if you work on your "red zone" skills and follow our program, you'll see significant improvement in your scores.

the northwest weather in the winter is not productive to make this happen it felt like some exercise program that i would start and find ouy i do not have this much time to devote.
Golf's Red Zone Challenge.......2006-07-24
This book offered nothing new. Lots of big pictures but nothing substantive. It was a waste of money. You can get more help from a monthly golf magazine.
Golf's Red Zone Challenge.......2005-09-23
I am a low handicap player and thought this was the best scoring book I have ever read!I chipped in five times in the first two weeks after reading the book. The eleven ball drill is incredible. If you need work from 100 yards and in, this is a must read. If you don't need the work from 100 in...have fun on the PGA Tour this year.
If you want to improve, get this book. .......2005-09-17

Math Fun.......2000-05-18
Our family has really enjoyed this book. We homeschool our two children, ages 10 and 13, and have been reading this book to them chapter by chapter. The narrative appealed to our precocious but math-phobic ten-year-old, so that she wasn't even aware she was doing math. The topics and exercises appealed to our math nerd thirteen-year-old, who has taken on the task of disproving the four-color map proof. The exercises in the book are well-explained, and require only simple materials such as paper, pencil and dice. I provided the children with just a bit of background information. For example, we hadn't done much work in probability, and needed a little background before we played with weird dice. However, most topics (fractals, chaos theory, topology, etc.,)were so well explained, no further information was necessary. I recommend this book for all those who wish to interest their children in mathematics beyond the humdrum rote of math facts.

Multiplication Division: Windows: Ages 8-Up School Zone Soft.......2002-09-03
This was just what I needed to review Multiplication and Division facts. It can be practiced as a timed drill or self paced. At the end of each drill you can print out a page that shows the math facts that the current student needs to practice.
This software requires Quick-Time, Microsft WIndows 95 or higher, 24MB Ram, 640 X 480 16 bit color video, 16 bit sound card 486DX-66MHz or faster processor, 40MB free disk space, and 4X- CD-Rom. I purchased this for home for my daughter and individual copies for our school's computer lab and Math classes. This software is set up to use competitively as well. Two players may play at a time and each receive their own print out when the game is over. GREAT SOFTWARE. My 9 year old loved it!

The kids I work with love this game.......2007-09-05
I see quite a few kids in my work as a therapist. I have found that the kids who are old enough to understand the rules (usually 5+) really love this game. This game, in my experience, can benefit kids who are learning their letters, learning to read, and/or kids who are working on their speaking abilities. They like it since it's a fun way for them to practice and learn without it feeling like school or homework. I would actually recommend this to parents and I'd say you should set aside some time a couple nights a week to play this and other (educational) games with your kid(s) since part of what makes the kids like it is that you're there playing with them. It's a great way to encourage and support them as they learn. Also, this doesn't have to just be about the letters since each card has an animal on it and the type of animal written out below so it can also help with reading. For example, I'll ask the child, "Do you have an 'A' as in 'Alligator'?" and they will have to do the same on their turn so they learn to associate the picture of the animal with the word. And, of course, they love to win and then count out how many pairs they got (good for learning/practicing counting too!). Basically, I can't speak highly enough of this game. It encourages learning, practicing numbers, letters, reading, speaking, and healthy competition, and gives them some always needed attention at the same time.
P.S. - For kids who don't get the rules just yet, it can be played as a matching game!
Book Description
Time and Money Cards provide the basics for learning about time and money. The time cards consist of both digital and analog clock cars, plus information cards. The money cards consist of illustrated money-problem cards, plus information cards.
Customer Reviews:
Learning Time and Money.......2005-08-04
The Time and Money flash cards feature 25 time and 30 money cards, 5 time tip cards, and 1 parent card. The parent card gives you ideas on how to introduce the concept of time and money using both the cards and real-life experience.
These cards teach children how to read both digital and analog clocks including how many minutes are in an hour and the meaning of the short and long hands on a clock. An example of one of the time cards shows a pocket watch showing 10 til 5; the back shows 4:50 on the face of a digital watch.
The money cards feature pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. Sometimes the front and back of each coin are shown. For example, one card shows the front and back of a quarter. On the other side, it says "Place your coins on the spaces to equal 50 cents". There are two circles where a child can place actual coins in the spaces provided, reinforcing coin recognition. Coin combinations and amounts are also depicted. For example, one card shows 10 nickels. The other sides says 50 cents, 10 nickels.
Geared towards children ages 6 and up, School Zone Time and Money flash cards are a great way to introduce children to these concepts and then apply them to real world situations. Great product!

*Tips for building a Red Zone management capability
Customer Reviews:
Thrive in the Red Zone.......2002-05-10
Red Zone Management is based on a football analogy for the last 20 yards that lead to a touchdown. This is make it or break it time for a team. According to the author, Dutch Holland, businesses are increasingly facing their own red zones. For a business what constitutes are red zone? It is activities that can lead to extraordinary profit or loss. These situations fall outside the scope of daily business management. Here is a list of red zone situations:
Changing competitive strategy
Mergers and acquisitions
Reengineering work processes
Implementing enterprise solutions (ERPs)
Implementing e-Business solutions
Changing culture
What are the types of behaviors that cause red zone initiatives to fail? Here is Holland's list:
Lack of high quality executive support
Lack of comprehensive and detailed up-front planning
The organization is too narrowly involved
Inappropriate delegation for critical leadership responsibilities
Undisciplined and incomplete project management
Red Zone Management covers the general topics of the red zone in the first half of the book. Each business red zone gets a chapter in the second half of the book. Each of these chapters covers a company that failed in this red zone and one that succeeded. In addition each of these chapters covers the roles that senior management needs to play for this particular red zone.
If your company is in the red zone or will be in one soon this book can tip the scales in your favor to succeed in the red zone.
How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Red Zone.......2001-12-23
Dutch scores with this great manual on not just recognizing Red Zones, but on how to plan, communicate, motivate and execute successfully in them given today's unforgiving and full speed environment.
He has done a terrific job capturing what team members urgently need to know and while pointing out what they need to challenge and he has put it in an easy to read and understand format.
This book has joined my short list of must read's for teams that I lead on high risk/high reward projects.
I strongly encourage you to read this book!
Insightful.......2001-12-15
Here is a book with helpful insights to deal with issues faced in every corporation,if you are re-engineering the whole company or a small unit that is floundering.
Executing in the Red Zone.......2001-12-13
Red Zone Management is a down-to-earth explanation of why so many organizations, faced with making a step change to reach the next level, fall flat on their faces and end up in worse shape than they were before. Organizations that "fumble the ball" in the red zone often see momentum swing to their competition, leading to potentially irrecoverable losses. This book will help an organization's leaders recognize the red zone--and play to win.

How to Make Artist's Brushes.......2007-07-16
As a practicing artist, I am always looking for new ways to make expressive and appealing images. I work mainly in porcelain pottery, decorated with slips and glazes.
I bought this book to learn how to make brushes, brushes which will enable me to create more distinctive images. My needs are somewhat different from what the book provides, but I found enough information to assist me in experimentation with making tools for expression.
The book is more geared toward industrial manufacture, but there is more than enough information and example for the individual to make implements of good quality and function. The difficulty lies in gathering materials and finding a place to work where the cat will not try to supervise...
I recommend this book for all artists who like to make their own tools.
An examination of an important tool.......2000-05-15
There are countless books written on watercolor, acrylics, oil paints and even a few on gouache and casein, but the common thread linking all of the painting media has been overlooked . . . until now. Brushes are the most common of all artist's tools, yet the vast majority of artists are woefully uninformed about how to pick out a good brush and, even what the difference is between the good, the bad and the mediocre brushes.
In writing this book, Jacques Turner has drawn from long experience in the brush-making business to provide us with a truly useful manual on what goes into the manufacture of a good artist's brush as well as the reasons and uses for the various shapes and hairs that seem to complicate and confuse our choice.
For me, this book has opened up possibilities that would have been remained closed. My new-found knowledge has certainly proved its worth when buying brushes.
A quick and easy read, Turner writes for the artist, not the research scholar.

Book Description
This major presentation of the work of Pierre Bonnard follows a new line of enquiry reconciling what has previously been seen as two distinct early and creative periods: the Nabis or symbolist Bonnard and the later so-called Impressionist or colorist Bonnard. By uniting representative works from all periods of Bonnard's life, this book chart's the artist's singular pathway and illustrates his highly independent artistic vision. The 130 works illustrated here, including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, and sculpture, show that Bonnard continually experimented with alternative media and drew from a range of sources, both Eastern and Western. The 130 works here illustrated, including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and sculpture, show that Bonnard continually experimented with alternative media and drew from a range of sources, both Eastern and Western. Above all, the book demonstrates Bonnard's overriding and lifelong interest in colour. Three introductory essays explore diverse aspects of Bonnard's work: his aesthetic innovations in light and colour stemming from inventions in photography and film; the influence of Japonisme in his early and late work; and the critical role played by Bonnard's early formative education in Parisian Lycees. The resulting volume, which accompanies an exhibition at The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C., and the Denver Art Museum, is essential for all lovers of the work of Pierre Bonnard and of great value to students and connoisseurs of the history of European modenism.
Customer Reviews:
Phillip's staff has it right.......2006-07-29
This is one of the best books on Bonnard the color repros are good and sometimes enlarged.. Besides Antoine Terrase's book" drawing to color "this book shows how Bonnard worked up his paintings from little drawings from a daily diary he used as a sketchbook. The photos shows Bonnard's studio in Le Cannet. Also,Some of his shots of nudes. It has repros found in few other books. I have Bonnard books stemming from the MOMA exhibit after WW11 by John Rewald, Another book that had rare color repros was Bonnard edited by R.J. Beer. This is a good buy and a worthwhile study of the work. Winston Hough
Good Book on an Underrated Painter.......2003-07-06
"Early and Late" is the book that accompanied the Phillips Collection's 2002 exhibit on Bonnard's early and late works. The exhibitition was beautiful. The book, of course, doesn't do justice to the colors in the originals, but the book's prints, particularly the details, are very good.
The book includes a chronology of Bonnnard's life, three excellent essays, and some notes from Bonnard's journals. One essay discusses Bonnard's innovations, especially early on and especially his use of photography as a way to prepare for his paintings. Another essay shows how Bonnard's paintings were influenced by his reformed education. A final essay demonstrates Bonnard's debt to Japanese art.
Bonnard's longevity, I think, has kept him from having more of a reputation as an innovator. A quick overview of Bonnard's work shows that he was still painting postimpressionism toward the middle of the 20th Century. His use of different points of view and contrasting colors, and the subservience of the object to the idea make him more than a late impressionist. Basically, I like this guy's work, and this book helped me answer my question, "What is it about this man's painting that I like?"

Turner in His Time, Revised and Updated Edition

Book Description
The first ever authoritative guide to Turner and all aspects of his art J. M. W. Turner is generally acknowledged not only as Britain's greatest painter, but as one of the finest and most original of all landscape painters. His long life and exceptionally large and varied oeuvre has created a body of art, and accompanying literature and primary sources, that are daunting and often inaccessible to the scholar and Turner enthusiast alike. The Oxford Companion to J. M. W. Turner, the first reference work devoted entirely to this artist, is an authoritative guide to every aspect of Turner's life, his art, his reception past and present, and the cultural, social, and political context in which he worked. Written by a team of the foremost Turner scholars in the world, the Companion presents the very latest information available, in a form that is both easy to use and enjoyable to read. Over 760 alphabetical entries offer * the fullest possible accounts of the private and public life of this baffling and secretive man - his family and friends, his mistresses and children; his interests and travels, patrons and associates, his will and bequest * details of his working methods; his stylistic development; the artists who influenced and inspired him, and those whom he influenced in turn; pupils and assistants; exhibitions during his lifetime, and the prices paid for his pictures * full coverage of the subjects and topographies depicted in his art, from Walter Scott's country house at Abbotsford to his panoramic views of Zurich * over 100 entries on the most important individual works and groups of works-oils, watercolours, and engravings, both exhibited and unexhibited * contextual coverage of contemporary artists, literary influences, political events and the issues of his day, from slavery to the Sublime * a complete account of past and modern Turner scholarship, and of important exhibitions, public and private collections, dealers and the market for his art today WITH: EXQUISITE COLOUR PLATES; CHRONOLOGY OF HIS LIFE AND TIMES; EXTENSIVE BIBLIOGRAPHY; LISTING OF PUBLIC COLLECTIONS WITH WORKS BY TURNER
Customer Reviews:
Lives up to its title.......2004-01-14
Although certain Oxford Companions have been flawed -- that to "Film" had a lot of errors; and in my minority opinion that to "English Literature" wastes far too much space on tangential matters -- most are informative, authoritative, and endlessly browsable. This new Companion to Turner belongs among them. With all the detail it offers about Turner, it's a substantial work and one that will only appeal to those who already have one or more collections of his works; it's understandable that this volume does not duplicate these; if it did, its weight and size (and unwieldiness) and price would rocket.
My only disappointment so far is admittedly peripheral: why does such a scholarly (and expensive) volume not come in the black (or immensely dark blue) cloth that OUP gives to most of its hardbacks?
WORDY AND FEW PAINTINGS.......2003-07-26
Maybe I am silly but if you are going to call a book a companion on a painter you should have plenty of paintings from each of the periods in his/her life to share with the reader. This book is primarily sound even exciting scholarship with a paltry amount of paintings.
If you are taking a graduate course in art history it is right on target however if you are madly in love with the art of this giant go elsewhere for your pleasure.
Book Description
This stunning book is the first in-depth exploration of Georgia O`Keeffe`s unique contribution to still-life painting. It features beautiful full-page reproductions of some sixty of her paintings, related photographs, essays that discuss the sometimes surprising formative influences on O`Keeffe`s approach to objects, and an illustrated chronology of her life.
Customer Reviews:
wonderful gift.......2000-04-22
I sent this book as a gift, based on the glowing review on this page. My donee/friend wrote: "What a wonderful surprise and delight the O'Keefe book has brought me today! It is indeed something very special, with elegant color illustrations, plus many photos from various times of her life, and biographical details all through the text. There is a wonderful photo of her (by Ansel Adams) -- she wears a dark sweater, and is sitting, sketching, at the rocky entrance to what may be a cave --- and all of her design ideas seem to be there in the photo: her own interesting form, contrasts of dark and light, austerity yet beautiful rhythms....I had no idea what a pathfinder she was, going her own road by interpreting objects in an entirely personal way. Everything has her magic touch. The color plates are excellent." I have her permission to send these comments to you.
Outstanding book from an outstanding exhibition.......1999-09-03
This is the companion catalog to the O'Keeffe exhibition at the Phillips gallery in Washington, DC, and is a wonderful volume on O'Keeffe whether or not you were fortunate enough to see this exhibition. What impressed me most about the exhibition (and the book) is how intelligently it was put together. It examines O'Keeffe's development as an artist by tracking both her philosphy and her influences, and some rarely shown works were chosen to represent this in the exhibition (and are reproduced in the book). Of all the books on O'Keeffe that I've read, and of all the exhibitions I've seen of her work, this one by far does the best job of explaining both the artist and her work.

For more than 50 years, Turner has been painting and drawing cars, circuits, races, and personalities in all branches of motorsport, from F1 to rallying and endurance driving, sports car racing to the Indy 500. This book spans subjects from the 1947 British Empire Trophy race through the 2000 F1 World Championship, with more than 80 full-color reproductions. Turner includes fascinating insights about the drivers and team bosses, as well as historic photographs from his personal collection.
Book Description
One of the world's most beautiful cities is pictured here through the eyes of one of the world's best-loved artists. J.M.W. Turner's translucent, atmospheric paintings and watercolors of Venice have long been celebrated as among the most extraordinary creations of this popular artist's later career. Few other artists have responded with such imaginative inventiveness to the magical combination of water, light, and architecture that is Venice.
This beautifully produced book, which accompanies a traveling exhibition that comes to the Kimbell Art Museum this spring, features the largest selection of Turner's paintings and watercolors of Venice ever published, some reproduced for the first time. The texts include contributions by travel writer Jan Morris and historian David Laven, who bring their perspective to the city as it was when visited by Britain's greatest painter.
Customer Reviews:
The Most Important Resource on the Paintings of JMW Turner.......2005-04-15
JMW Turner goes in and out of phase as far as appreciation for his gifts as a painter. There have been periods in history where his works were dismissed as irrelevant and of poor technical quality. But despite the varying critical evaluations, Turner's inimitable style of finding the transparency of that plane where water and air admix has always been viewed by those who are fortunate enough to approach his great works as that of an idiosyncratic romantic poet.
No subject better provided a venue for his vision than the mysterious and magnificent 'La Serenissima' - Venice, Italy. It is in this city that floats like a transient tenant on the sea, laced with canals, bathed in fog and rain and mist that Turner found the essence of the spirit of Venice. This lavishly designed and illustrated volume originally served as a catalogue for the exhibition by the same title that was staged at the Tate Museum in London and traveled thereafter. Curator Ian Warrell is to be commended for this largest collection of Turner's paintings and drawings ever to be assembled, and to top his achievement he produced this monograph which not only illustrates in rich color separations the glories of the paintings and the detail of the sketches, it also is graced by excellent essays by travel writer Jan Morris, historian David Laven and Venice specialist Cecelia Powell.
While there have been several fine books on Turner, this is the finest assemblage of works that inherently relate, a fact which induces a deeper appreciation for Turner's talent. Setting his paintings in context with the works of other painters, both his contemporaries and others, shows not only the 'how' of Turner's techniques, it informs us of the context of the views both historically and artistically.
The quality of the reproductions is first class and the quality of the paper of this book is of the highest order. This is simply a magnificent book visually and educationally...and romantically! Highly recommended. Grady Harp, April 05

A Royal Academy of Arts Publication
J. M. W. Turner (1775-1851) is considered Britain's greatest painter. While he is best known for his stunning oils, Turner also created major works in watercolor, many of which rival his oils in their breadth of scale, depth of tone, richness of color, and wealth of detail. This handsome volume, published on the 150th anniversary of Turner's death to accompany an unparalleled exhibition of his finished watercolors at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, is a milestone in Turner scholarship.
Eric Shanes, a well-known expert on Turner and curator of the related exhibition, places the artist's watercolors in the wider context of his painted work and provides individual commentaries on the approximately 200 lush colorplates. Evelyn Joll investigates the market forces that brought Turner's watercolors into being, while Andrew Wilton analyzes their extraordinary effect on the art of later watercolorists. Finally, Ian Warrell discusses the critical reception to the work of this prodigiously talented artist. Turner: The Great Watercolours will stand at the forefront of thinking on Turner for years to come. ERIC SHANES is a leading expert on Turner and founding editor of Turner Studies (1980-1991).
EVELYN JOLL is an independent art historian based in London.
IAN WARRELL is a curator at Tate Britain.
ANDREW WILTON is keeper and senior research fellow, Tate Britain.
