Also you find informations about water use, photosynthesis nad all other plant related information you right and in one book. No sharp colorphoto is present, but the informations you find writen here, is a compression of the 5 volumes 'Citrus Industy' by the University of Florida. Just a book you need and you should read if you realy have any buissness with citrus trees...

Description:
The effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungus Glomus versiforme on reactive oxygen metabolism and antioxidant production by citrus (Citrus tangerine) roots were investigated in pot culture under well-watered (WW) and water stress conditions. Seven-day-old citrus seedlings were transplanted into plastic pots containing with and without G. versiforme. After 97 days of acclimation, half of the seedlings were subjected to water stress and the other half were WW for 80 days. Regardless of water status, biomass yield, plant height, leaf number per plant and stem diameter were notably higher in AM than in non-AM seedlings. Whether water stressed (WS) or not but AM roots showed lower levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), hydrogen peroxide (H"2O"2) and superoxide (O"2^.^-). Under WW conditions, activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), guaiacol peroxidase (G-POD) and glutathione reductase (GR) were significantly higher in AM than in non-AM roots. WS AM roots showed higher activities of SOD, catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) when compared with non-AM roots. WW AM roots had higher levels of soluble protein, glutathione (GSH) and oxidized glutathione (GSSG) on the other hand, WS AM roots also showed higher levels of ascorbate (ASC) and GSSG. The higher enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant productions would partly alleviate oxidative damage. AM colonization was significantly positively correlated with GSH and negatively correlated with SOD, APX and H"2O"2. The data from the present study suggests that, AM symbiosis helps in increments of enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant productions which in turn help AM plants to enhance drought tolerance.

Description:
Phosphorus losses by surface runoff from agricultural lands have been of public concern due to increasing P contamination to surface waters. Five representative commercial citrus groves (C1-C5) located in South Florida were studied to evaluate the relationships between P fractions in soils, surface runoff P, and soil phosphatase activity. A modified Hedley P sequential fractionation procedure was employed to fractionate soil P. Soil P consisted of mainly organically- and Ca/Mg-bound P fractions. The organically-bound P (biological P, sum of organic P in the water, NaHCO"3 and NaOH extracts) was dominant in the acidic sandy soils from the C2 and C3 sites (18% and 24% of total soil P), whereas the Ca/Mg-bound P (HCl-extractable P) accounted for 45-60% of soil total P in the neutral and alkaline soils (C1, C4 and C5 soils). Plant-available P (sum of water and NaHCO"3 extractable P fractions) ranged from 27 to 61mgPkg^-^1 and decreased in the order of C3>C4>C1>C2>C5. The mean total P concentrations (TP) in surface runoff water samples ranged from 0.51 to 2.64mgL^-^1. Total P, total dissolved P (TDP), and PO"4^3^--P in surface runoff were significantly correlated with soil biological P and plant-available P forms (p <0.01), suggesting that surface runoff P was directly derived from soil available P pools, including H"2O- and NaHCO"3- extractable inorganic P, water-soluble organic P, and NaHCO"3- and NaOH-extractable organic P fractions, which are readily mineralized by soil microorganisms and/or enzyme mediated processes. Soil neutral (55-190mg phenol kg^-^13h^-^1) and natural (measured at soil pH) phosphatase activities (77-295mg phenol kg^-^1 3h^-^1) were related to TP, TDP, and PO"4^3^--P in surface runoff, and plant-available P and biological P forms in soils. These results indicate that there is a potential relationship between soil P availability and phosphatase activities, relating to P loss by surface runoff. Therefore, the neutral and natural phosphatase activities, especially the natural phosphatase activity, may serve as an index of surface runoff P loss potential and soil P availability.

Yes, the book has many additions to the text. I found them very useful and insightful, and they assisted in offering a connection between the text and the real world in most cases. I am taking correspondance courses, so this book is all I have, and I think it's great. The authors speak in a way that's easy to read and understand. I don't like reading much, but this book made it easy.

I love business, the class I have is fun, the teacher is funny as hell, but the book just stinks. However, there is a study guide that you can buy to go with the book, I strongly recommend that. Helped me study tremendously

The simulation appears to be available only in a DOS version. This makes it very cumbersome to install and use.

A top selling business strategy simulation for academia.......1999-09-28

This is one of the best selling simulations for use in senior level business strategy and global strategy courses. The book that is listed is the STUDENT MANUAL for the course. The instructor will have the software for the simulation. This is not a stand-alone product but must be administered by the insturctor in the course. This book would be the same book as purchased in the college bookstore.

Student book without necessary simulation software........1999-05-20

Although it's not obvious from the book's contents, "Corporation, A Global Business Simulation" is a course consisting of simulation software, an instructor's manual, and the student book -- what is sold here is just the student book. Contrary to what is claimed, you can do the exercises but have no idea what outcome results from the values you choose. The course sounds like it would be very interesting, but there is no information anywhere in the student book on how to obtain the remaining materials. Don't buy this book unless you either have access to the other course materials or are planning on taking the course somewhere.

I got exactly what I thought I was buying. This is a really convenient way to have a textbook, because you can just stick it in a three-ring binder and take it with you! Also, you can just take a few chapters if you want, or the whole book! The pages are a little thin, but it's a wonderful educational textbook. As a B.A. in psychology, I would recommend this book to anyone looking to have a great learning experience and a textbook that doesn't cost a fortune.
