Book Description
The hilarious story of how a piglet tells her family how she was caught by a wolf and nearly became soup.
Customer Reviews:
Hilarious.......2006-07-06
This book has to be one of the funniest children's books we have ever read. We originally checked it out from the library and loved it so much we had to buy our own copy. It provides tons of giggles. It is perfect for our 5 year old's silly sense of humor.
Wonderfully funny and imaginative........2001-02-27
Hog-Eye is one of my children's (6 and 8) all-time favorite books. (It's one of my favorites as well!) The little pig's creative explanation of how she missed the bus is humorous, but her family's sideline responses to the story are what make this book really wonderful. Hog-Eye demonstrates just how important a little ingenuity and the ability to read can be.
One of my daughter's favorite books ever..........2000-05-18
My six year old daughter and I have read this book over thirty times, and we're still laughing! A little pig, trying to explain why she missed school, invents a tall tale about a hungry wolf, a soup recipe, and her own ingenious efforts to escape the wolf's clutches. Don't miss this book!
Excellent read aloud.......1998-06-07
Hog-eye is one of those books that elementary librarians like myself search for. It is a wonderful excellent read aloud that the children enjoy especially the "underwear" part. It is also a wonderful book about the importance of reading without hitting the children over the head. Also I could really get into reading aloud this book. It was such a fun experience for students and I. Thank you Susan Meddaugh.
Innovative children's book with funny dual story line........1997-01-25
If you're looking for a children's book that reflects the attitude of today's kids, read Hog Eye. With an unique dual storyline, the main character is telling about her adventure and dubiously clever escape, and her large family is reacting and commenting. You enjoy a delightful blend of interactions.
And when you get the the punchline of the story, your kids will remember it FOREVER.
A real keeper. A regular read for our three kids

Book Description
Who Is Geronimo Stilton? That's me! I run a newspaper, but my true passion is writing tales of adventure. Here on Mouse Island, my books are all best-sellers! What's that? You've never read one? Well, my books are full of fun. They are whisker-licking good stories, and that's a promise!Book 1It all started when my sister, Thea, discovered a mysterious map. It showed a secret treasure on a faraway island. And before I could let out a squeak of protest, Thea dragged me into her treasure hunt! In no time at all, we'd set sail for the island. It was an adventure I'd never forget....
Customer Reviews:
A series your young reader will LOVE.......2007-03-22
This is the first in a series of books, that my son was introduced to by a friend. The unique thing about the series is that although there are pictures, many of the words are written in creative text or printing, in a variety of colors, right in the paragraphs as well. This really makes for keeping a young reader engaged with the story, especially for those that are transitioning from books with pictures to chapter books, and chapter books that are all text.
My son is currently in 2nd grade, but is reading well above grade level, independantly. The challenge for him is that what he CAN read, he's not intested in yet, and what is at his grade level doesn't hold his interest. He has been devouring these books in around a week each. We also read aloud to each other from them, and they are very entertaining, even as adults.
A wonderful series, great, I think for boys and girls alike as there are very strong, positive main characters that are both male and female.
Incredible Series!!.......2006-01-25
If you are looking for a new book series, this should be it! There are 24 books out so far, and I have read them all. They are funny, clever, and have lots of funny mouse jokes. They are perfect for ages 7 and up, and come out bi-monthly. They are the best series of books ever. They originally came from Italy, if you're wondering. They are great, so read them ALL!!
Fun, humours and pleasant to the eyes.......2005-07-30
There's one fine line between well-played and over-played layouts. The full Geronimo Stilton series falls into the well-played category: the outcome is pleasant and not too loud and the fonts / colour used are really a statement on their own.
Another point to note is the translation involved. While this is not "literature" literature, the adaptation in cultural and linguistics aspect are well taken care of.
I don't know any Italian but have compared the Chinese and English versions of the same book (yes, my colleague at work has the entire Chinese series while I'm catching up by matching the English version). The funny bits are transformed elegantly.
Recommended to not only children, but anyone who's intersted in translating humour and layout.
On the Trip to Find the Lost Treasure.......2005-05-14
It all started when Thea found an old map with an x for the spot where the treasure was. She dragged her brother Trap and her cousin Benjamin on to the trip. They took a boat there and a few days later a hurricane struck. Find out what happened to Benjamin, Thea, and Trap.
I really recommend this book because the details were great. It's a great adventure and this book is good for kids from second grade to fifth grade. You should read this book.

Geromino Stilton Rocks!.......2005-04-20
As my 8 year old son would put it. Geronimo Stilton series is the FIRST book series that my son is willingly reading. The use of different fonts, colors and most of all humor in the book is what has kept him captivated. My 6 year old who is reading "Junie B Jones" chapter books has picked Geronimo as well.
Geronimo books are packed with references to popular culture, all re-worded to match the mouse vocabulary. And my son finds it particularly fun to "translate" mouse terms into something that he uses everyday. For example New Mouse City (New York City), Mousific Ocean (Pacific Ocean), San Mouscisco, etc.
I would also applaud to the translator who did wonderful job on the books translating them from Italian. We could hardly wait fo the next installment of the series.
So, in short, if you have a reluctant reader in your family, give Geronimo a try. It might just do the trick!
Book Description
Originally released in Italy, the Geronimo Stilton books have been translated into 35 languages, and the rights have been sold in over 175 countries. In less than three years, the books have become the most popular children's books in Italy, with over 1.6 million copies in print.
Book #1 - LOST TREASURE OF THE EMERALD EYE
It all started when my sister, Thea, discovered an old, mysterious map . . .
Book #2 - THE CURSE OF THE CHEESE PYRAMID
It was a dream come true--I was off to Egypt to interview a famous archaeologist! A crabby old camel took me across the desert to the Cheese Pyramid . . .
Book #3 - CAT AND MOUSE IN A HAUNTED HOUSE
Lost in a dark, spooky forest, I quickly discovered that it was haunted--by cats! And in this case, curiosity almost killed the mouse . . .
Book #4 - I'M TOO FOND OF MY FUR
When my old friend Professor von Volt called to ask for help, I trekked halfway around the world to Mouse Everest and then was kidnapped by a yeti!
From the Cassette edition.
Customer Reviews:
Great fun in the car!.......2007-10-07
My son is just turning 3 and LOVES to listen to Geronimo in the car. The chapters are just the right length for short trips to the supermarket or post office. He quotes the narrator and loves the sound effects. It is entertaining for me too. Trust me, I've heard these 3 stories again and again. I got introduced to the series from a free CD of Curse of the Cheese Pyramid in the kid's meal at Wendy's. (I wish more fast food places would try this as a prize instead of plastic junk--it really gets the kids interested in reading.) He loved it and I've bought the first 2 sets in the series. If it's great for a 3 year old, it would be even better for kindergarten - 3rd graders too. I highly recommend it.
Geronimo Rocks.......2007-06-13
The Geronimo series books and audio books are all great. The audio books are well-done and do a lovely job of bringing stories to life. I definitely recommend listening to Sitlton for a long car/plane ride rather than the brain-numbing GameBoy. And my husband and I even enjoy listening in and will play the CD in the car rather than letting our kids listen privately on their Ipods. I also find these audio books to be a great price. If you're not familiar with the actual books, give them a try, too. The puns captivate your older reader who may techinically be older than the suggested reading level, and the fun colored fonts will encourage younger readers to push themselves. I am a big believer in reading books both below, at, and above reading levels (to gain confidence, push yourself, reinforce, and enjoy), so the Geronimo books are wonderful to appeal to those from ages 6 to 10 minimum.
A Book Review From a Spiritridge Third Grader.......2007-03-22
Do you want to read an exciting hilarious book? Well then The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid is waiting for you! Geronimo is a great newspaper editor. He has to go to Egypt because a scientist, Albert Spitfur, has a new way to make electricity! Geronimo went to Egypt because he needs to report the new way to make electricity. Geronimo's great grandfather is on a money diet (he is not spending a lot of money). Weird things happen, you will have to read the book! Oh, did I say they talk about cheese a lot in this book? Well they do!
I like how great grandfather William always calls Geronimo and screams at him, "You're spending too much money", when he really is not!
I recommend this book to people who like talking animals, Egypt and lot's of cheese! So read it!
Outstanding.......2005-10-16
My 9 Year old daughter was having some trouble with her reading and the entire Stilton series has reversed that. The books are very well written for young readers and the stories are even fun for the parent to read as well. Overall this is a fun series with alot of good humor and will make you child enjoy their reading experience

Customer Reviews:
A fun book from a first-rate poet........1996-07-24
Poetry these days is rarely, if ever, funny. Robert Siegel,
though, had the courage to write a book of poems about, of
all things, pigs. Not only is this funny poetry, it's just
plain funny reading. I was fortunate enough to be in a
creative writing class where selections from Siegel's book
were read. It had us all laughing hysterically. I was then
even more fortunate to attend a stodgy coffee hour at which
Siegel himself read poems that even the most serious reader
couldn't stop and subject to close scrutiny without
laughing. This is a book for anyone who has been turned off
by overly pretentious poetry, but also for those of us who
just have a sense of humor.

I love this book!.......2002-03-20
This is such a great book! My 12 month old grabs this book out of the stack everytime. He really likes to open the flaps and loves the googley eyed animals. I really want to get him that rest of the Eye Spy series.
Fabulous fun for little ones!.......2000-03-25
My twin girls have been enjoying the Eye Spy flap books since they were 7 months old -- and at 13 months, they still are among their favorites. This particular book has very colorful, lively illustrations, good rhymes, and the flaps are large enough that the girls can easily pull them by themselves -- and they're sturdy enough to withstand lots of play! They love to read them over and over again, pulling the flaps, watching the eyes move, and putting their fingers through the holes. I've given this book to lots of their little friends, with similar results.

Book Description
Hardbound. This book is the result of 30 years of research on the development of high-yiel ding wheat varieties, which have been grown commercially for more than two decad es, and which are used in many breeding centres around the world as germ plasm. The book is specifically designed to help researchers and plant breeders who wis h to make new varieties that are superior in genetic yield potential and quality to the currently cultivated varieties of field crops and various other plant sp ecies. The ultimate goal of these studies is to increase food production for th e expanding world population whilst taking account of the need to secure crops m inimally contaminated with substances detrimental to human and animal health.
