Customer Reviews:
Excellent review.......2003-05-21
This book has a lot of important information that anyone taking the USLME should know. It has pretty good questions and answers and I like how the book explains the various USMLE topics. It's much easier reading through this book then some long textbooks. However, I also used the following which is also available on amazon.com:
Microbiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi
This questions were on target with the type of questions asked on the microbiology section of the boards. Get both books.
Helps to review small importand details.......2003-03-10
I have just passed Step 1 and I do believe that this book helped me to get a good score. Despite the fact that the questions in this book do not mimic the exam's questions they highlight many details, which may be missed even in good review books. If you use only one book to study one subject, you will definitely miss some important facts. To cover those facts I did the following. First, I studied the subject using the main review book and answered questions in it. Than I answered questions in this book and always found missed important details, which were not mentioned in my main textbooks but were covered here. In other words, I would advise to read this book before the exam.
Not up to date.......2001-10-31
This review book is not up to date, specifically the questions are in a format nowhere near USMLE's exam. Memorize the newest edition of First Aid.
Good if you have time, but better exist.......1999-05-15
I like this book. I really do. However, there are better books out there (Princeton Review and J&S, for example). The tests are hard, a bit too detailed in their demands, and not as applicable to the new testing format. Still, it's a good way to study.
Excellent question and answer content........1997-09-01
The book gives you tremendous amount of practice with questions covering an organized amount of subject matter while giving complete and easy to understand answers. The intergration of the answers into multiple subject matter is one of the books best aspects. If you are preparing for the USMLE this book is a must
Book Description
With the help of this book medical students can fully prepare for the USMLE Step 1. The book features six practice tests with over 900 questions, and answers with detailed explanations.
Customer Reviews:
Worst Review Book Ever!.......2004-02-05
Please do not buy this. I bought it and I am absolutley disgusted at the quality of this book. Many questions appear to have been modified from previous editions however the answers no longer corelate with the questions. Spelling mistakes are everwhere and "renal cell carcinoma" is misspelled as "anal cell carcinoma" in more than one location! Many other spelling mistakes make studying from this book a very confusing procedure...

Book Description
Once upon a time it was dark at night and the animals couldn't see a thing. They ask the sun for help and he presents them with a wonderful surprise, a beautiful crescent moon that grows larger and rounder night by night. At first the animals are grateful, but soon they start taking the sun's gift for granted. Hurt and angry, the sun takes the moon away, then reconsiders, and comes up with a way to light the night for the animals that will always remind them to appreciate his generosity.?Coby Hol has created a sweet, simple picture book that introduces very young children to the waxing and waning of the moon and offers a gentle reminder to all to value Nature's gifts.

spellbinding storytelling for young readers.......2001-10-23
This book has literally been written with love and tenderness to inspire readers of all ages, whether young readers are being read to or not. It becomes difficult to read only one of the stories at a time they are all so delicious !
Book Description
Together for the first time in one thrilling volume are Rebecca York's Killing Moon and Edge of the Moon, two of her highly acclaimed werewolf novels full of suspense, intrigue, and passionate hunger.
Killing Moon
A P.I. with a preternatural talent for tracking finds his prey: a beautiful genetic researcher who may be his only hope for a future.
Edge of the Moon
A police detective and a woman who files a missing persons report become the pawns of an unholy serial killer in a game of deadly attraction.
Customer Reviews:
Great combo of stories.......2007-09-23
I have read both of these stories and I love omnibus editions. It makes it so much easier to catch up on the whole series. This one contains the first 2 books of the Moon series by Rebecca York.
The first book is one of my favorites and introduces Ross Marshall, a werewolf and a detective. The second book focuses on his friend, Jack, a cop. No werewolves, but a wonderful love story nonetheless.
The Moon series is a wonderful set of books that begins with these two.
Great!.......2007-02-19
"Full Moon" is an omnibus edition that contains "Killing Moon" and "Edge of the Moon." I have been a fan of "monster" books since I was about 10; the werewolf type presented in these books is not unique (why do so many writers decide that for some reason the werewolf "gene" is deadly to girls? Scientifically girl babies are MORE robust, not less . . . *shrug*), but the overall story and world created in these books are quite interesting.
"Killing Moon": Ross Marshall is the latest in a line of werewolves descended from a single forebear - apparently around the time of the druids - who dared to ask the gods for a gift . . . although that gift was granted, it comes with a price; baby girls are stillborn and many of the boys die when they are teens and first try to transform. Ross is a bachelor and determined to stay that way, as he is afraid he will turn out to be like his father - a very cruel man - as well as afraid to even try to have children. However, he is also curious if, genetically, anything can be done. So, he calls a genetic testing lab and asks for someone to come out and test his blood. Dr. Megan Sheridan is sent. It is love at first sight (of course).
Wrapped around their love story is Ross' attempt to bring a serial killer to justice (he works as a PI). Also, his friend - Detective Jack Thornton - has become suspicious about Ross' involvement in the death of a serial killer 5 years ago.
Overall, this was really a good book. Lots of thrills and chills and the dynamic tension between the romantic leads was well done - in a REALISTIC manner, rather than the typical romance novel approach, which is to have the two romantic partners dislike each other for no good reason until toward the end of the book where they subsequently fall in love for no apparent reason as well. For fans of paranormal romance action thrillers with a twist, you'll like this one!
With "Edge of the Moon" - her follow-up to "Killing Moon" - Rebecca York continues her exploration of the world she has created and expands upon it. The main focus in this book is on Detective Jack Thornton and a beautiful woman who reported her roommate missing - which roommate is later found dead, killed by a vicious serial murderer who is now focused on Jack's new-found love. I hate to say more so as to avoid ruining the suspense, so I'll leave it at that - just add my accolades. I plan to keep going on this series as I can. It is terrific.
Dynamite Duo of Paranormal Sensual Delights.......2006-06-18
KILLING MOON
- In KILLING MOON private investigator Ross Maxwell has been hired to search for a missing woman. Ross' unique skill to track and find people is a secret he guards closely, for he has been both blessed and cursed with the ability to shape shift into a wolf. In his wolf shape he discovers her body along with evidence that suggests the murderer is a serial killer. When the killer comes upon Ross in his wolf form he is shot while escaping. Wounded, Ross was able to shape shift back to human form and return to his home where Dr. Megan Sheridan, a genetic research scientist sent from the lab he had contacted days before, finds him unconscious. Mesmerized by the beautiful naked man, Megan cleans his wounds and when he regains consciousness their mutual attraction is intense. Ross knows that wolves mate for life and yet he knows he must fight the attraction. He is well aware of the heartache of involving a woman in his life; not only the horror of her discovering his true condition but of the danger of the serial killer who is now tracking him.
*** This first novel had a marvelously intense suspense plot as well as a wonderfully sensual aspect featuring two very emotionally wounded lead characters. Ross and Megan each had very difficult childhood backgrounds that the author used to capitalize on in defining their characterizations. The author did a marvelous job of crafting Ross and her description of the transformation back and forth of man to beast was brilliantly done. This was a fast paced action tale with a perfect balance of secondary characters to carry and add depth to this highly engrossing read. What a marvelous beginning to ensnare the reader in wanting to continue with this `Moon' trilogy.
EDGE OF THE MOON
- If I thought the first novel, KILLING MOON, in this duo was exciting and terrific I can now only think of it as an `appetizer' for this second book that combines a powerful police procedural with a very dark paranormal fantasy. This one definitely had me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails!
Although you will again revisit some of the characters from the first novel, the story is centered on Jack Thornton, a Montgomery County, Maryland police detective. Assigned to check out a missing persons report of a young woman, Jack meets her very beautiful landlady, graphic designer Kathryn Reynolds. Their initial meeting is powerful, as if time stood still (which it does) while each took one another's measure. Obviously something otherworldly was going on and as they would both discover, something dark and very dangerous. As Jack's investigation led them on a rather erotic path with shared dreams, and more otherworldly events, they both came to realize that they were being manipulated by a very dark presence that was using them to thwart a serial killer madman's scheme to become an unholy power. The chase became intimately personal when Jack and Kathryn joined forces to prevent the killer from securing Kathryn as his final victim in his sacrificial ceremony.
*** Wow, talk about thrills and chills the reader will find themselves completely caught up in this second offering of York's ` Moon' trilogy. Being introduced to Jack in the first of the two novels I liked him for extending his friendship to Ross and Megan, but here in his own (stand-alone) story you will love him. Jack and Kathryn are like two puppets with the lesser of two evils pulling their strings. With each bizarre event and dream they became more tightly ensnared in things neither could control, including a very intense and very stimulating sexual attraction. It's written beautifully with originality, thrills and chills, engaging multi-dimensional characters, excitement and a superb romance. Rebecca York has definitely landed on my auto-buy list and keeper shelf! This is definitely a book I most highly recommend - two superb novels in one great book!

two delightful paranormal romantic mysteries.......2006-02-08
"Edge of the Moon". Montgomery County, Maryland detective Jack Thornton works three missing people case where he believes homicides have occurred. Graphic designer Kathryn Reynolds calls the police because her tenant Heather DeYoung has not returned home in a few days. When Jack and Kathryn see each other for the first time, neither can breathe. Meanwhile Simon Gwynn uses many aliases and houses to incarcerate his prisoners until he is ready to sacrifice them in an ancient ritual that will soon enable him to control the energy essence Ayindral. He believes Kathryn is the key offering. Readers will enjoy this paranormal romantic suspense that deftly combines fantasy with a police procedural wrapped inside a romance.
"Killing Moon". Private Investigator Ross Maxwell seeks evidence against human predator serial killer Donald Arnott. Ross shifts shape into a wolf and passes through a perimeter breach he created on Donald's property. However, Donald sees and shoots Ross, who escapes. The next day genetic research scientist Megan Sheridan of Bio Gen Labs visits her client Ross at his home to do a work up on him. She finds him feverish from his wound so she cleans the wound, provides the antibiotic that he happens to need, and puts on fresh bandages. As he heals Ross worries because he knows Arnott stalks him, the Montgomery County, Maryland police suspect him in a murder investigation, and the CEO of Megan's company is acting strange. Still, Ross is angriest with Megan for not fleeing from him because wolves mate for life. Using the premise that lycanthropy is a genetic disorder, KILLING MOON is a delightful supernatural private investigator romance starring two charming lead characters.
These are two delightful paranormal romantic mysteries.

HORSESHOE CRABS ARE THE BEST.......2000-07-21
This book is a really nice story about how you can get to know horseshoe crabs better. I love the night time illustrations. I like remembering when my family went out looking at horseshoe crabs near Cape May New Jersey. It was very special like the story in this book. I wanted to know even more about horseshoe crabs than a picture book can tell you so I also read Extraordinary Horseshoe Crabs by Julie Dunlap. If you have both of these books you will really know a lot about horseshoe crabs which are really cool.
5 Stars for Crab Moon.......2000-06-14
Crab Moon is a gem. Ruth Horowitz's evocative prose brings to life an experience that few people will get to have--witnessing thousands of horseshoe crabs massing on the beach under the full moon for their annual egg-laying. Kate Kiesler's paintings express the mood perfectly.
The book tells a simple story. Daniel is woken in the night by his mother, and taken to the beach to watch the crabs. The next morning, he goes out alone to find a crab stranded on her back. He empathizes with the odd-looking creature, and finds a way of turning her over so that she may return to the sea.
Crab Moon is salted with interesting horseshoe crab facts, and it allows readers to share in Daniel's feeling of connection with a threatened and misunderstood species. But while the book both informs the reader and evokes respect for nature's creations, its tone is always poetic rather than pedantic or preachy. In fact, with its warm, dreamy feel and its invoking of ancient natural rhythms, Crab Moon should make an ideal bedtime story.

Imagination Boost.......2001-03-20
After reading Moon Rabbit Builds a Fine House my kids and I are imagining all sorts of never-seen-before animals in the full moon and clouds, too. We are having fun making up our own folk stories about what we are seeing. Terry Avery- thanks for the wonderful imagination starter.
rave for moon rabbit.......2001-03-06
Moon Rabbit, a cozy dreamlike bedtime tale, trips off the tongue with alliterative language and repetition of phrases sure to please even the wiggliest listener. The imaginative, evocative paintings by the author enhance the wonder of the story. An enchanting choice for any age. (Don't forget to look for Moon Rabbit in the next full moon!)
