even though i am no purist, i am not calling the artwork manga. i found it at the library, thank god i did not borrow it! the bodies are disproportionent, the eyes are wrong (as if he spilled correction fluid on them) and whats with that hair? if you wan to learn how to draw manga like i do, DO NOT GET THIS BOOK!

This book is more of a how to draw western comics but deffently not manga. The charaters are deformed the hair is huge and the eyes are wrong too. If you are a beginer and looking for a how to draw manga book don't buy this book. I have been doing manga for a long time and I know what I am saying. If you buy any books by Chistopher Hart you will fall into the wrong path and never really learn what real manga is. I'm not an Okuto but I hate Chistopher's pretend manga jut as much as they do. If you want a good how to draw manga book try "how to draw anime and game charaters" very good art and good step by step instructions.

This book is definitly for littler kids. The manga(is it manga?) looks nowhere near professional, but that would make it to intimidating for younger artists. It would definetly broaden they're skills, but I would NOT recomend it for more skilled artists.("Manga Mania" is good!)

The innovative 4 step process is simple but brilliant. My children picked up the technique effortlessly. Mr. Hart developed an excellent technique to teach younger artists. I hope he continues this concept. This book is highly recommended for young artists.

I'm an Otaku, and I think this book was really bad.
This was the first book I read from Christopher Hart, and it really gave me a bad impression. It was less like Manga, and more like cartoons! Even the body proportions he gives you at the beginning are messed up.
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone but the most desperate. I would rather recommend the "How to draw Manga" series.

My kids absolutely loved this book. This book has 60 pages of drawings which created a great deal of fun for my kids and I. It was alot of entertainment for the dollar!
I was concerned about the last reviewer stating that there were "millions of errors" which would translate to well over 16,000 errors on each page! Luckily my daughters and I found none We loved it!!

Well this book is one heck of a descrase tords chibis!The art is so western and ugly!I thought the last reveiwer said "if you love manga chibis by this book!When I look at this book I saw millions of errors(like the eyes and the hair)!Manga Artist and Beggeners stay away from this book it was a HUGE waste of money!DON'T LEARN THE HARD WAY!If you are a huge chibi fan (like me)buy how to manga super deformed characters.Very KAWAII ^_^!

This book is not manga not at all. The art is way to chidish and cartoony. If you want to learn real manga try the "How to draw more manga" book by Katy Coope.It teaches how to draw manga monsters and people. Plus it is real art not these cartoons by Mr.Hart!

This book is way to american! In manga the monsters don't look like that. Manga monsters are not expressionet like the cartoons in this book. This is more of a how to draw neo-pets(which is american animated.)book.Over all this book is far to cartoony and not real manga. So if you want to just learn how to draw cartoon monsters add four more stars. If you want real manga don't buy this book.

A big smile on the face of a kid who doesn't like to draw.......2005-10-28
He really needed to work on his fine motor skills and has had great difficulty with other drawing books. Yet, this one just pulled him in like a magnet. For hours he was working on the various exercises and producing incredible monsters with amazing high quality. He especially liked the step by step approach so that the he could get from a blank piece of paper to the finished product...all without tracing. Now I'm looking for other books in the series.
